eh!!! ur that lawsuit how? my friend's freind's cbr1000 also went there servicing. in the end, whole engine seize. need to change the whole bloody engine.... she went there to change EO for a trip up north. but turns out, there's no EO in the engine!! come back singapore, bike engine gone... can't be EO leak, cos u can tell from the oily patch on the floor. i also advice her to sue p*n *tos.

update on your case leh~

the lawsuit ah...

go one big round end up...

the suvyor we hired happen to be the same fellow(pay him $600).i think the comment he give is very bull sh*t...some more can write..

"i concluded this case is due to "metal fatigue"(meaning the valve break by itself in the engine),not due to overrev by rider and NOT DUE TO POOR WORKMANSHIP".

the bold sentance means the fellow is free to go....damn it!!

if like that, must recall all the CBR 400 back to HONDA japan!!

valve can break by itself in the engine!!!BIG JOKE...

even if it break, must be due to that pusXy,never fix properly ...dropping valve hit cylinder head now whole singapore dont have,my bike is laid up and cant move!!

now my bike value is left 1000+...that is what one bikeshop quote me!!

really hope he will %^^&*&*^^%%.ppl let him earn money he go and make ppl bike from one small overheat problem to can throw away to scrapyard....blood boiling!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

add this add that means add what? insurance, roadtax no choice must add one. agreement fees... u lanlan also must pay one.

but still i think u could have got it cheaper elsewhere ifu can afford full cash. if not, then u LPPL pay extra for finance loh. bo pian one.

honam24:

no lah~ 05-R6. i dun think it's advisable to get 06-R6. have mentioned earlier in the forum. =)

ali baba:

the shop name.... u sms derek and ask him ah. cannot write shop name here. later kenna sued.... lol

sparkplugs... use normal ones lah! no need to use so expensive ones. how fast can a 400cc go? how often do u travel at that speed?

same goes for EO. old bikes not advisable to use fully-syn. too "slippery" liao.

what u shouldn't save on though is a good set of brake pads, discs and brake lines....... safety ah~... =) all others can save $$ one lah. unless u feel rich. if so, do send some over let me use. =p

I fully agree with alpha82!

speedboy07 - You'll save a lot by buying full cash from a private seller. But of cos not everybody can fork out the cash. Ever considered taking a loan from papa mama? Get $$$ from parents, tell them you'll pay them 5% interest. (That is 20x of POSB interest rate!) You will spend less, plus own people earn your $$$ better than some stranger bikeshop earn your $$$. :cheeky:

ali baba - Clifford of K&T also recommended semi-synth EO and normal plugs for track use. Save the $$$ for brake hose and brake pads loh. And fullface helmet and gloves if you haven't gotten them.

yo! if u afraid of potential probs with the bike, better not get a CBR.. I can guarantee u there will be lotsa probs. It comes with buying an old bike.

Advice is to steer clear of anything more than 10 yrs old.

My expenses on my CBR is abt 20-30% of the price of a new CL2 bike... & that's for 7mths of riding it.

On hindsight, i wouldnt have bought this bike. But then again, if i wasnt riding a CBR, wouldnt have met all this gr8 ppl in this thread. :cheer:

u really want to buy, wait till next Jan can? I sell to you~

i already overhaul my engine, piston ring, etc etc.... save u the trouble. haha

kalam:

oei oei oei!

don't generalise hor!

my previous bike no problems ok!!! =p

u sure u spent 20-30% of the price of a new cl2 bike? a new cl2 bike costs about 18k. u're saying u spent $4500 on ur bike while riding it for 7mths? tok c*** lah kalam!! wahahhaa~

if that's really the case, then u got urself a really bad deal man. and, since u already sink so much into it, i say u ride it till COE ends lah... that way, ur depreciaiton better than when u sell at a much lower price...

ali_baba:

eh! forget about the difference ah~ u're not riding a new bike. if u are, then get fully-syn. ure riding an old bike. the engine and internal parts all worn out. everything loose liao. get thicker EO. protect ur engine parts. getting too thin EO might be good for racing and track days, but it doesn't protect ur pistons and such, etc.

and, depending on how well maintained ur bike is, if u use fully-syn, u might encounter EO dripping from ur bike every morning. lol

so, i feel, new bikes use fully-syn all the way. old bikes... stick to thicker EO. don't use fully-syn. just wasting ur money.

spark plugs CAN be changed w/o taking the fairing... but... NB... the trouble u'll go thru is so much more than taking apart ur fairing.... haha

Cannot be lah. You spend $4k on your CBR400 in 7 months?

Old bike = more problems. It is natural. Be prepared. A $4.3k R model will eventually cost you about $6k because of the money you are going to spend fixing problems that appeared due to previous owner's negligence, wear and tear, and old age. Not to forget the tempting Yoshimura exhaust and new paintjob.

People like to advertise bikes as "never gone on track". But I rather get a track-going but "never crashed" bike, because a track-worthy bike cannot be neglected by the owner. There cannot be any worn part that is not replaced. If not, the owner is toying with his own life. Track = abused is a misconception. Unfortunately, most track-goers won't sell their bikes for what most people call "cheap" because of the amount of care they give to their bikes. For example, my CBR may look stock, but I am not going to give it up for less than $4.8k because I sank way over $6k into it.

Choosing the CBR is a good decision.

i calculate and get a rough estimate of abt 3k..... how i can be sure is that i keep the receipts from the shop.

if u calculate properly, u will realise that alot of ppl spend ard that amt also..... all those nitty-gritty probs that arise often. dun forget the value of time and inconvienience.
