Engine etiquette

The second tip is not to use synthetic oil for running in. "It won't just slow the running in process, it ruins it - do 20 miles (32km) for new on synthetic and the engine'll need stripping." the bores and bearing surfaces end up polished and unable to hold a film of oil. the same thing happens when you run engines in too carefully

Cold starting

Most engine wear occurs in the few seconds after starting from cold. The oil is thicker can can't circulate, and while the bike was parked all the oil drained away from the top end of the engine. You can help circulation by cranking the starter for a few seconds wifh the kill switch off.

Particularly it's about these 2pts whereby I have done running for the litre bike bought recently but using fully synthetic oils provided free as a maintenance package for 3x @diff mileage... any permanent damage done  (as this is my first litre bike or rather 4 stroker ; from 2b-2) but didn't run in 'too carefully' though.

Next is about cold starting... understand that most equip wif auto choke but still...til now requires several push on the start button...bike does nothiing wif the kill switch off... got any other alternatives? Really need some guidance :weep: ... thanks

Great Power, Great sound, Great Quality... Safety?

not sure if this got to do with the engine:

recently i change a new batt, everything start off quite smoothly but after a few days, i can't elect start the bike and thus have to kick start instead, thinking it was the batt, i try to kick start and let it run and neutral gear for ard 30mins during my lunch time, later in the evening when i try to elect start, it worked!! but day after the next, the same problem arised again! Thus have to waste my 30mins lunch time everytime....

Well, any experts out there know wat seem to be the problem? Thx in adv!

Yours is the fuel injection model? Dun really get what u mean.. But for FI bikes, u just haf to hold the start switch there till it starts.. It should not take more than 3 pulse to start.. Unlike non-FI, u dun haf to open throttle slightly when starting..

As for the kill switch, i think your model got the safety whatever shit.. It wont even crank when the kill switch is off.. Just like when your sidestand is down and u try to start ur bike in first gear, it wont start as well..

It's still a road hazard no matter what.

Be it bike or car or bus or lorry or van or trailer.

Cheers !

Road Hazard to pedestrains.... agreed.

But comparing.........

1) biker ride like in GP: bang car/bus/lorry/van, motorcyclist die.... too bad for the cockster

2) car/bus/lorry/van drive like F1:bang bike, motorcyclist also die, sometimes die until lagi more jia lat...

That's the point he was trying to make i think...... and I fully agree! ;)

Even the smallest spark can start a massive forest fire...

Quotable Quotes: If you ride a motorcycle often, you will be killed riding it. That much is as sure as night follows day. Your responsibility is to be vigilant and careful as to continue to push that eventuality so far forward that you die of old age first
