Hello bros,

 

My fz1s 07' is due for a valve clearance check and my mileage now is 42k km..

 

I was thinking of doing my valve clearance at HL, they quote me $600+ and could take up to two weeks which is long..

 

Another choice would be HKL but how do u guys think of the workmanship there? Any of u guys send ur bikes there for valve clearance? Is it more cheaper? Will it take up to two weeks for the valve clearance?

 

Any other reputable shops for valve clerance service?

 

Pls advice..

 

probably 600+ is with all the shims changed and hopefully with cam chain and tensioner changed as well.. probably u should asked for more details..

 

i was charged about $220 to $250(cannot remeber the exact amount) for a valve clearance sometime back with my mechanic.. took 2 days for the job to be done.. most shops have different prices and different downtime.. so ask around before committing.. best is go to a shop that u are comfortable with..

What tools do you normally have other than the OEM tool set.

aku rasa FZ6 would be a better choice lah bro.. bigger rear tyre as well.. should be better and stable during high speed run and cornering..

 

and also i suspect the XJ6 will be not as fast as the FZ6.. looks like it's built more for comfort den speed.. should be a more detuned engine than the FZ6, probably for slight more torque at lower gears... and i heard it's going to be slightly more expensive than the venerable FZ6.. reliabilty also another factor, FZ6 is already proven.

 

but looks wise, the XJ6 looks cool, especially the exhaust pipe.. nice and low.. but going to be a slight problem if happen to cross a flooded area..

 

aku pernah scan thru some website... n actually the xj6 is a more detuned engine than the fz6, with more torque at the low and mid gears... n also the price tag to be cheaper than the fz6.
