what is the diff from parallel import and local dealer?

PIs are generally independant companies without official factory back up and support. Local authorised dealers have all the above that PIs dont.

 

PIs just source for the cars and bring them in.

Some set up their own service centers.

For premium brands, it may not be so advisable to go PI becos of the above reasons mentioned earlier.

Correct me if I'm wrong.. Most PI cars have lower OMV compared to agent units.. Also insurance for PI cars are higher too,and claims are harder if models are not carried by agent cos no parts support.. I know a lot of cars with minor damage but insurance company list them as total loss cos too ex to get replacement parts..

Dude, servicing for small car is just like a motorbike.

very cheap. a few hundred bucks a year.

 

frankly , if that is painful, forget about having a car, lest it becomes more painful.

Dont end up a slave.

 

It's an important lesson in life which one should to learn, not experience.

It was reported that the PIs are selling more than 200 units of Axio a month, in no time, Axio will be like Toyota Wish few years back.

 

Mechanical both the Axio, and Altis have alot in common since they are both based on the corolla platform. Routine servicing is definitely not a problem as Toyota has the lion share of the car market here, naturally alot of workshops will also be proficient in maintaining them.

 

Axio is firstly a Toyota, and secondly japanese made, so that's a double assurance.

 

If authorised agent's warranty means alot to you, then PI cars are not for you.

Just my 2 cents:

 

Axio is a good affordable ride and like Demon said, made in Japan. I drive this car once in a while.

 

Certain PIs carry warranty but of couse its only good till they decide to close shop... which happens every 2-3 yrs for small cos (my observation).

 

Having said that, you can always go to gd mechanics like this Hanip AUtomobiles featured in Wheels Asia magazine. He's quite good and honest plus uses only genuine Toyota OEM parts.

 

There are other gd mechs too.

 

If you buy fom Agent of course got 'better' warranty etc but do check out their servicing packages too. Buying from agent with compulsory over-priced servicing for 100k km may burn hole in wallet too...

 

I'm not pro either agent or PI. Just have to know basic maintenance regime and get a good and HONEST mechanic, thats most important for me.

so in short

PI means i can service outside n my warranty is still covered?

 

i know agent 1 is, 101% have to go back to agency for normal service then the warranty will be in force, if not then good game.

 

i know maintenance of car is super cheap la....

 

i just asking for 1 rotor for CS3.... onli 110 before GST!!!!

engine oil also super cheap....
