I am sure the pressure is mounting up for him. He has lost Ronaldo, the word no. 1 player and he has not been able to get the players he wants. So, with the pressure on, he is making more irrational statements of late. Hmm... bring on the new season, we will see more of that from him lah.

I believe you guys ought to know the actual news.. the article did not explain in detail why he acted that way. There were a lot of missing information there to screw up unnecessary controvesial, misinterpretation n wrong impression.

If you were to take time and read other more credible news report, it was becos there was a large advertisement banner at one of Manchester main shopping center that was mocking the Man Utd Club. Anyone with a strong belief in a particular club wld definately be greatly offended n responded in such a way.

If there was such advert mocking your club, how would you feel? And if further more, you happen to be the most senior staff of that club. Would you keep quiet about it or do something about it?

We may not support the same clubs, but mutual respect is important.

"Let me tell you something you already know. The world ain't all sunshine and rainbows. It is a very mean and nasty place and it will beat you to your knees and keep you there permanently if you let it. You, me, or nobody is gonna hit as hard as life. But it ain't how hard you hit; it's about how hard you can get hit, and keep moving forward. How much you can take, and keep moving forward. That's how winning is done. Now, if you know what you're worth, then go out and get what you're worth. But you gotta be willing to take the hit, and not pointing fingers saying you ain't where you are because of him, or her, or anybody. Cowards do that!"

Hmm... you must be a Man U fan. Thanks for the info. It certainly helps to put things in perspective.

city to overtake united? Hahaha..fat hope

Without the info above, one would be wondering why SAF is walking the same road?

city to overtake united?

even united took almost 2 decades to equal liverpool's number of league titles.. i tink SAF will be long dead before city can even come close..

city to overtake united?

i think chelsea's total number of league title is a more realistic target for city... dont even think abt united or liverpool

city to overtake united?

just because they managed to get robinho, tevez, adebayor doesnt mean they are suddenly the world's biggest club..

city to overtake united?

like giggs said, where's their history?

city to overtake overtake united?

first they have to overtake aston villa and everton before even thinking of arsenal, chelsea, liverpool and man united

city to overtake united?

kaka, ronaldo, terry, and god knows how many other actual world class players rejected them even when they waved cold hard cash in front of their faces.. this shows that real talent knows city wont win anything substantial in the near future

fyi,

1. robinho = even real madrid (the 'childhood dream club' of almost every footballer)wanted to get rid of him

2. tevez = he was 3rd/4th choice at united

3. adebayor = according to reports, he tried to call up united and chelsea just before signing for city

4. santa cruz = injury prone.. and is he suddenly a world class striker after being top scorer at blackburn??

5. gareth barry = apparently rejected liverpool, a club that is obviously more illustrious. ambitious or greedy?

6. craig bellamy = off-loaded by liverpool. need i say more?

cracking up or not, wat SAF and man united have done in the past decade is wat other clubs, especially cross-town rivals, can only dream about.

it is true every dynasty will come to an end and records are meant to be broken. but while united & liverpool (record no of league title), barca (first spanish treble champs), arsenal (record unbeaten season), madrid (record no of UCL title) has been breaking records on the pitch, city has only manage to break records for salary payments.

Who's ranting now?

Its barely middle of the pre-season and already the vessel is making noise.

Trying to double-team on Rafa over a non-issue.

The 'gesture' in question:

And I was wondering what the fuss was all about. Over nothing actually.

Best part was he was gesturing at his own players and nothing towards Blackburn.

And here's a nice point:

Back in April, SAF chided Rafa for calling Everton "a small club", highlighting Rafa's 'arrogance' for doing so.

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/football/leagues/premierleague/manutd/5173664/Godfather-Sir-Alex-Ferguson-looking-after-his-family-with-attack-on-Rafa-Benitez.html

Ferguson said: "Irrespective of what Rafa Benitez says, Everton are a big club. He called them a small club, which just points to his arrogance.

Well, how fast things change. Look who's calling who a small club.

That's ranting + being one big hypocrite, if you ask me...

Wow. I am impressed. Appreciate yr analysis. Way to go. I do not think that City will ever rise up to the level of United or Pool in terms of titles won; not for a long time to come.

I was surprised that he would be calling City a small club especially after what he said about Rafa. That is why journalists in UK are asking if he is cracking up?

Rafa should not have called Everton a small club because they are not. Well, it is important to be careful about what is said. Once it is out ... too late.
