At least every 5000km oil change.(but i change b4 reaching 4k) 3 bottles. Spark pulgs, oil filter, air filter can change on alternate times.

I believe u know the price for 4t

spark plugs - $10 each X 4

oil filter agent charge $20 other places cheaper

air filter - $50

Not like your KTM you know... Expensive 2T, gearbox oil etc etc....

3L of 4t of u dispose into the bin is very bad for the environment leh. Carb wash 1 time, no need to wash liao, synchronise can liao.

Spark plugs CR8EK x 4, $7 ea from LAB

Engine Oil x 3, I get from Fulin shop and change there and do the rest of the stuffs there.

But seriously, you dun really save much money if u know where to get the stuffs.

I just like to DIY on MY bike. Give it all my TLC.

Don't worry. Many people will help you to do your bike one!!!

power is nothing w/o control guys... K&N dun produce a filter for ur bikes... but there's one from another suzuki model that can be used... however, ur bike will run too lean on the stock jets... becoz, the 12:1 magic figure has been changed... if i've got the money, i'll think of the handling, braking and tyres of the bike first before even thinking of performance mods...

As mentioned earlier, 5000km regular oil change interval.

Me using Esso Gold 4T 10W50. Round $15 per bottle x 3 (plus one original oil filter every 10000km $15 ea)

Tried using Mobil Racing 4T but I think it's a 15W40 oil and might be too thin cos I noticed loss of engine oil but so far with the Esso Gold, none. (albeit slight loss in performance)

Since it's an old bike, things like CDI and rectifier and the wiring harness

is bound to be quite old and quite costly to replace.

Like Peter mentioned, $180 for a new rectifier but with 3 year warranty1?!?!

and a new CDI is abt $400++. Wiring harness not sure but seldom ppl change I suppose. 2nd hand unit can be sourced around for both rectifier and CDI.

Brake pads should be around 20plus each and there's 2xfront and 1xrear so x3 for that. Brake rotors if worn out are quite costly to replace as well.

Front fork and rear shock if working just leave it alone if you're not pushing the bike hard.... Front should be easy to work on but the rear abit costly. Change of oil and replacement of oil/dust seal should be less than $100 for the front fork.

For the rear, I have no experience on it so might wanna check it out with duckrice.

Carbs..... By now, I think the needle,main and pilot jets are worn out. not to mention the slide body etc etc but hey... if it moves the bike from A to B, can liao.

dunno how much the main/pilot and needles cost but for your KTM Keihin carb, main jets abt $6 ea, pilot sama, needles $16 ea.

So plus few dollars on each item x 4 cos GSXR400R is an inline 4 engine.

Plugs are like 7.50 ea for the NGK CR8EK x 4

Seldom need to change unless ur jetting is screwed up.

Non-reusuable original air filter $50 ea.

Look for KNN which can be reused for abt 90 according to Peter.

As for the engine.....critical.

By now, dun expect too much from it lar ah... if it's not burning too much engine oil, should suffice.

Chewbacca had his piston/rings, overhead cam, timing chain, valve clearance etc replaced at abt $600 plus (workmanship,gasket etc etc) so I think it's quite a cheap

deal for a top-end job. Then again, try to find one that isn't going to break down so soon ah....

Wheels...Tyres cost abt $200 a pair. Wheel bearings are pretty cheap. Round $50-60 to replace front and rear wheel bearings. Steering cone bearing might be shot as well....$85 to get it done. Dunno how much it cost from KS the distributor.

Shock bearing/linkage bearing.... dun even go there.

Battery needs to be replaced like every 1 1/2 year and is abt $45.

Sprocket gear chain is pretty much standard. Abt $150 for front/rear/chain

Fuel consumption. 1L abt 15-20km depending on how you ride it.

200km to reserve tank is pretty much de facto.

16L full tank (when hit reserve, left with abt 2.5L)
