what do u mean by foul plug symptoms?

is it when starting bike, the idling sound is weak, or the chopper idling effect?subsequently things will get normal after bike get heated up?

there r times after starting up the bike, especially warm start, the idling sound can be quite weak initially. it's not a big problem anyway. it's quite normal. after a while the idling will be back to normal.

otherwise, i would suggest u go back to the shop which u had service and tell them your problem, at least some explaination or make a fuss.

hi bro :)

its the chopper sound...... then the engine will die when i stop at the first stop line or traffic light. then after i ram (travel) for a while..... the bike wont die liao, but still chopper sound (like one plug died like that).

then, later in the day, i start my bike, its ok again (everything fine).

the above 2 sceniros keep on repeating itself. one time ok, one time not ok. sometimes its 2 times not ok, 1 time ok..... ok ok not ok, not ok not ok, ok.

what lau..... and i know that the problem is not like "cos i start the bike after overnight parking thingy"......... (not a "choke" kind of situation)

u might wan to check if there's any air leakage in e flow. most likely ard e manifold area. hairline crack is enough to cause the prob. can use soap water to check.

maybe u can try other bike shop since e one u visit cannot solve ur prob, only waste more money. eg. washing ur carb n tuning.

hi bro :)

where is that place you adviced? i will try to check it out.....

thanks for your advice :)

but then u mentioned u juz went to service the carb... when was it? which shop did u send the bike for carb servicing? normally if after 1 to 3 days, problem arises, at least can always go back to the shop and let the boss know, if he act blur, then BANG TABLE!!

if it's really that bad, i might want to shun that shop..

Could be possibly many problems but don't know which one.

Try wetting the headers in the morning when you 1st start the bike to see if the plugs are fouled if not inspect your spark plug cables.... they may be loose.

Best if you bring back to ah chong to tell him the problem. he will get it fixed for you swee swee.....

yeap. then again maybe its your carbs since it was just serviced. but since its an on and off thing, cant really be your tuning? Plugs do get fouled easily if they are running too rich.

:) really thanks all you bros for advicing me. :) :)

yeah i serviced my carb on sunday (31dec06)(shop name best dont put lah, if you want to know then.......... hehe), the uncle insist that its my carb...... and hor and hor...... he wanted to cheat me saying he change air filter for me...... lucky i ask him where is my old one (the one he take out of my bike) then he faster change his words.... saying my air filter is new, no need to change. (this is bcos i sudd show up to collect my bike after 3hrs, didnt call him to say i'm coming. i believe if i did call him, he will go and find one really old filter and show me. i caught him off-guard!!)

today morning i tried the wetting the header thing again. starting to ride got chopper sounder. then i rode to somewhere got better lighting and start to wet the header, seems to be working properly. all the water go off really soon. got one lah, very very slightly slower (like 1sec slower only), then the chopper sound stop already when i resume my ride. so i dont think its my plugs right? is it bcos my bike need to warm up?

and yeah when washing the carb, the uncle show me got one rubber tube (don't know where he take it out from but he say its the carb there. its the type of tube like the one on our tank) got a hole, then he change for me (just cut away the part only). does it contribute to my problem?

:) thanks again bros for helping me.

I doubt its the tubing. If it did then your problem would have gone away wouldn't it?

From the way i see it the uncle din really solve the problem in the 1st place. Unless you are sure that the shop will not further carrot you, you should bring it to another more reputable shop to rectify the problem. If in any case the shop is a reputable shop den go back n kpkb in front all the shop's customers and make sure that the boss rectifies the problem for you for free. Else you can get a whole bunch of other guys to go together to make a scene... lol

If 1 header is slow after a while, maybe its your tuning after all ba, when u ride, before and after service carb, do you feel an increase in engine responsiveness? Not power, but your rpm should move through its range faster then before u service, if u drag and feel a slight lag at certain rpm, confirm its your tuning.

I had this problem when the mothercb old jackass lazy mech at the bike shop where i got the bike from didnt tune my carbs properly. I will happily drag through my rpm, shifting at 8k then suddenly the bike will give symtoms of running out of petrol.

Alot of "lagginess" or sound issues can be attributed to the carbs i realised. Unless u hear ta ta ta sound like me hahah, thats my sproket and chain.

Hi,

I've got a question to ask you guys regarding spark plug caps. Is the.. "chiong" $9 spark plug caps good enough?

According to the mech, the aftermarket ones do not cover the spark plugs so well, and suggested that I get the original ones (a whooping $28 more!!) which is definitely much better. I took his advice and changed one of the caps together with the fouled plug.

But.. if the aftermarket ones work well, from the guys who have changed it here, I might consider changing the rest of the spark plug caps to that.. so.. any feedback?

as long the aftermarket caps have the top rubber are able to cover the hole and prevent water from sipping in, it is fine.

Go ahead and buy the stock one or anything of similiar design. Best if you could get the 2nd hand ones. Hell, I got mine from a shot RXZ.

The aftermarket ones, some of em has a water limiting 'hat' but it goes into the sparkplug barrel. It does not cover the top of it.

Hence you'd still get a collected pool of water acting on it.

And weight of water = over time = on top of plug cap = dead.

Anyways let's try this..since I am on MC

Here's the stock spark plug cap..

And here's the aftermarket one I conveniently bought because I thought it can make me kill a Ferrari one day when I grow up..

and if u see me on the road, pls wave.. I am a happy biker. (altho my thing is small)
