For my case(new bird buying 2nd hand bike, gan cheong so nv notice the condition), juz becoz i fancied the PS2 paintwork however only after the day i rode out, the condition was really jia lat.

 

List of Major Wear & Tear Maintenance(Within 1st 6 mths)

 

Bike unable to start 3 times for the 1st mth(Have to Tow):-

- cdi koyak(Kena rain water, or maybe the time is up for the poor cdi)

Fixed: Changed 2nd hand RR cdi $150

- Wet plugs(YEs, after a big rain) then i realised that all the 4 plug caps are spoilt, water can easily sipped in.

Fixed: Replace the caps with 2nd hand original caps($30 bucks for 4)

- Clutch cable snapped

Fixed: Replace the cable $48(Inclusive of tow)

- front tyres wrapped

- the rear rim was dented

Fixed: Replaced with a 2nd hand rear rim, changed a set of new front and rear tires as well as wheel bearings $500

- fuel consumption is 180km(AHEM I MEAN Full tank, NOT until Reserve)

- Plugs keep fouling Changed 4 plugs within 1st mth($12 each, so total is $48)

Fixed: Carb service, changed 4 x big o seal, and 1 x small o seal $120

 

Total cost of the 'touch up' is abt $850 juz to fix up my bike into a normal and 'ridable' state within 1st 3 mths... of coz there r more stuffs which i'd done up subsequently. This is juz a rough guide of my own g4 experience. all depends on case by case basis. Hope this can help a bit..

 

Has never gave me any major headache or breakdown since... and of coz there are other basic maintenance like EO change, plugs and chain which is quite standard la.

its really depends on ur luck when buying old bikes... you never know wat can go wrong since u can only test ride the bike for 5 mins or less... its not enough to know wat problems it have....

 

when i bought mine... its in koyak state... tires bald, no servicing done for a long time.... i bought it since its cheap... till now, nothing major wrong with the bike... maybe i am just lucky...

addictive : alamak i read ur case then i now appreciate my bike even more. so far no major problems.

 

anyway abt the outing, i think everybody meet first at jalan kayu then we can decide where to go. majority vote lah, democracy at work. Hmm, but i think everyone should bring their passport along like me. Mine is always under my seat.

 

oh but we must of course find a place to park our bikes in one row to take picture which reminds me, someone bring good camera (esp night mode)

 

and yes, outing is confirmed - because now got official title some more. Dunno who add one ahahaha

bros, just realised this....

 

after i got my bike back from the tiam (washing of carb). at the tip of the carb (on the right side of the bike, the top corner pointing towards the front one), should there be a "cap" to cover something? Cos the shop replaced it with a rubber tube (cut one, like the one on our tank) to just hold things together.

 

How ah? is it an important area? KS motor can buy or not?

guys..jus asking..if i doing the insure claim..am i able to claim all the repair of my bike?? i.e 1st the only say can claim for the outer damge..like pain work, mirro, pip rewrap, all tat..but after i got my bike back from the shop.. only a few days, my float(caberter)not sure if i spell correct got problem..

 

can i add this to the claim i get my bike from the shop??

Ok, for claiming issues. Most of the time u can only claim what is damaged in the accident, highly unlikely that you can claim for the carb float unless u somehow prove that the accident damaged it. What alot of people do is, they usually have a bike shop they are loyal to, bike shops ALWAYS overclaim on damages (my friends shop claimed 10k in damages for a krr 150) so if u know they shop well, you can maybe negotiate with them to change parts for you FOC. But that would be eating into their profits so unless u know them well and they have a little gratitude, its quite difficult.

 

Regarding bike problems, at the moment here are the things done to my humble bike 1. air filter, oil filter new EO 4x sparks, front brake pump, instrument panel, top gaskets, water pump oil seal for 500+bucks 2. Did o ring + front back sprokets for 180 3. Brand new rear suspension + installation 360 and I will be changing my tyres for 290 bucks.

 

So thats 1330 burnt in 2 months

 

But guys, if you can dont get 2nd hand suspension, ours mono shock damn hard to regain much life even if u recondition. get the suspension from KS near kelantan for 330 and pay abt 20-30 for installation. It is SWEEEEEEEEEET, damn...bloody...sweet. My bike handles like a dream now.

 

Next for me would be a fresh paint work, then new set of carbs and top end overhaul!

 

But the overhaul and carbs wont come that soon =P

should be going... may not be repainting the bike le... cos bike so old... repaint till nice nice but wont last for long.... suay suay buang *touchwood* then waste money le.... hehee

maybe just take care of the condition of the bike can le...

 

ur paintwork insurance can claim???

i only service the wear and tear.... make sure nothing spoilt.... tats all....

Upz to ur attitude towards ur bike....

 

ur friend's shop claim 10k for the krr... but tat price isnt it can buy a totally new one????

mitosis, must be very shiok with e new shock huh. I was wondering whether KS have the rear shock that comes with adjustable remote reservoir? One more thing is, SP model rear shock rebuildable?(Yeah I mean the one with remote reservoir, more mono shock). It really suck and sad to see that oem rear shock is mono and cannot be rebuild.

Saw a black G4 parked at SIM carpark that has a ohlin rear shock.

Actually I also repair wear and tear mostly. But i wanna track reguarly with this bike so gotta do up a little. Most I have changed so far are wear and tear, when bike has problems then i change. My chain and sprokets were so bad that my sproket teeth all wave form, curving backwards .

My rear sus was so bad that when u stand the bike upright with no 1 sitting, my girl could tap the rear sit with her palm and the bike bounces up and down lol.

 

I am trying to get a good 2nd hand carb but seems like difficult... Oh on my shopping list is a new set of brake pads + hel brake hose too >.

 

So much to do so little money

Yes, they do sell the suspension that comes with the pump (this model comes with certain models of the GSX and is full adjustable) But it costs 600+. Can buy 2 new sus
