Just curious - do the rules like wearing helmet etc. apply when you are riding your bike on private property (e.g. your own apartment / condo etc)?

As long you're in Singapore, you've to abide by the law. There's always the kaypohs who would take pictures of you and bike number and post on STOMP. Then TP bo bian have to take action, else they'll be accuse of CBL.

Same old words, "You can do anything! just don't get caught...."

Anyone can ride a bike. Being a biker, is a state of mind.

Boy "driver" may not have committed an offence

A video of a 13-year-old boy driving an Audi R8, with the current price tag of $495,000, has provoked the local online community.

According to STOMP, the citizen journalism website, the boy "seems to have driven the R8 on multiple occasions, with an external party at hand, making a recording of his 'exploits.'"

The STOMPER who forwarded the video also observed that the boy driver "did not have his seat belt on" and "his line of sight barely clears the steering wheel."

The STOMPER added, "Is it legal for the parents to allow their son to take the wheel without a valid licence?"

Netizens in another online forum, hardwarezone, also expressed indignance that a 13-year-old boy was allowed to drive at all.

One forummer argued that the 13-year-old boy should be reported in order to prevent future accidents.

He cited several accidents that involved drivers in their twenties with fast cars.

Some netizens have expressed disbelief about the incident happening in Singapore.

However, AsiaOne observed the slight outline of an In-Vehicle unit in the car during the short clip.

When contacted, the boy's father said that he was shocked to learn about the video, The New Paper reported.

"He knows he is in big trouble. He was tearful on the phone when I spoke to him," the father told The New Paper.

The boy's father also told The New Paper that his son had got hold of the keys to the sports car because they were placed in a cabinet that everyone in the family had access to.

"We never imagined that he would take the keys and drive the car," he said.

He added that he had not seen the video but understood from the son that he car had only been driven around the carpark of the condominium, The New Paper said.

Lawyers told The New Paper the boy may not have committed a criminal offence even though he was driving without a licence, The New Paper reported.

The reason is that he did not drive the car on a public road.

Under the Road Traffic Act, a person has to be at least 18 years old before driving a motor vehicle on a road.

In this case, "road" is defined as one to which the public has access.

Oh... but helmet-less as I transiting at MSCP to washing bay still wrong. Public have access =(

Note to self: Must.........buy.............condo.......... or........wear........turban.

But on hindsight, you don't need the law to protect your head. Common sense will prevail.
