I just wanna a bike that can get me from pt A to pt B that save gas and require low maintenance.

Generally speaking, should i get a bike that is more than 10 years old ? If so, which bike would be more likely still in good condition after 10 years?

I am considering Honda Wave.

if you are considering honda wave.. y not just get a new 1? or at least, 1 that is used for about 2-3 years.. its not ex.. problem with getting 2nd hand bikes is you wouldnt know how well previous owner/s have maintained it.. and i think wave not many more than 10 years old.. correct me if i am wrong..

Rat bike - A motorcycle not necessarily kept in pristine condition, often painted matt black. Minimal maintenance and mismatched parts often used.

New bikes are out of the question as i dun think it is worth the money to buy a new one. So are you saying the most value for money is a 2-3 years bike rather than a really old bike?

a transport bike regardless of age is ok. as long as engine is good. then ok. hahhaa...most important the price must be cheap. and the spare parts are easy purchase!

Actually i saw a brand new Piaggio Liberty, very nice looking bike. Haha, i am torn between buying an expensive one or a cheap and reliable bike like RXK.

No bike that I know saves gas ... all of them burns gas :)

Seriously, can't beat the kups for consumption. Also the Bajaj Pulsar supposed to be legendary for that too.

Cheers

it depend you keen to have it for long or short term.

If for long term and meet your budget, try not getting a real old bike as you might not know if it might break down when you are out and need to meet your friend or go to work?

Money can get you a better bike from the start.

But money can never buy you the time you lost esp when you are rushing for something important to you.

Get what best for you. It will be worthy!

Honda Wave is the best one for u..

Engine wise, easy to maintain.. Just change EO regularly..

Petrol wise, good consumption..

Price wise.. Getting one which is abt 2-3yrs old will cost u ard 1.5-2K..

more than 10 yr old bike the performance is largely a gamble...

be prepared to spend money doing up the bike

for a transport bike get a newer one la...

if you want to keep the bike for donkey's years.... get a new one

if you want to keep the bike but not sure if you are going to keep it, get a maybe 2-7 year old one

anything older than that (up to 9+ years) if you want to keep for long term prepare to pay extra for renew coe le...

if you want to keep for one year next year upgrade, then a 7-8 year old will do la... then sell or scrap when time for coe renewal

for more than 10 yr old bike, sometimes if the owner take care, then should be no problem. (but you probably will need to replace wear n tear items upon taking over the bike)

for ancient bike... better to use as wkend bike and get another bike for transport... cause ancient bikes are very temperamental one, break down as and when they like... then might have to sit around waiting for spare parts >

my 2 cents.

boring rider. with a boring bike.

too old to want to appear interesting anymore.

From small bikes 2-3 years bikes are your best bet....

They depreciate the hardest during their early years...

2-3 years later most fell around 30-40% of their new OTR prices...So why not....

Rather than gamble on 10 years old bikes I choose the newer ones....

Yes you may be paying less than 1k for the 10 years old ....but you are still paying less than 2k for a 2-3 year old bike.

And consider the resale value as well....The money you can take back should be well worth it as it is not so "OLD" after 2-3 years later....

u can get a 10 years old honda wave and just replace whatever parts need replacing..

should be quite cheap.

i'm currently riding a 19 years old 2 stroke sport bike..

so far so good..

you just need to know which parts need to be replaced when and where.
