anyway guys, i've found a quality & economical product dat'll give us problem free start up everytime! i think a proper name for it should be a battery revitalizer.

it's a black rectangular box sized like a pack of cigarettes, wit 2 wire leads coming out from it(pics coming up soon). simply connect the coloured leads to the battery and it's done. a red led lits up to show it's in operational mode.

http://www.singaporebikes.com/forum/index....howtopic=112262

not trying to hijack the thread above but dats pretty much similar to wad this thing does, though it dun warn users of impending battery failure, it simply maximizes the battery life & its charge capacity.

aftermaths of after fixing it on the 2nd day-

be4- on small rds where speeds are pretty much restricted, switching on the mainlight and after parking it, my starter motor would give a very weak & dying crank, if not no response at all(pushstart again). therefore i would religiously switch off the mainlight unless on the expressway/main rd, and would switch it off again when turning into small rd again, as wad i've always adviced fellow italian riders.

after- i can leave the mainlights on all the way and even get a fairly strong crank up from the starter motor wit my mainlights on at the same time!

be4- even i got my mixture screw & idling screw set up correctly, my idling rpm will always go higher or lower at random times, never stayed at dat particular rpm for long( i had my shift light to display the 1st led to be lit up at 1500rpm). makes me hysterical in thinking some parts of the carb or engine was leaking air in.

after- the idling rpm stayed the same everytime whether hot or cold weather. and after revving the bike, the rpm came down fast & evenly, used to come down randomly in response.

so as u can see it's a pretty great product on economical price at the promise of trouble free starting up & extended usable life of the battery! oni to be used for wet cells- applies to wet cell wit unscrewable tops & maintance-free cells. look out for the symbol "pb" on the battery which is the element symbol of lead.

or shake to hear if there's any liquid sloosing ard inside juz to double confirm.

if sufficient ppl were interested, maybe we can do a mo on it?

Hi Bro

hi bro, i'm fine thanks!

sure, it's open to all, whether was riding one, had rode one or had a passion for one!

bumpymouse81- i once had the same problem. after some time found out the battery revitaliser dun really work as well as the rectifier wiring mod, which u need to splice a wire from the rectifier to the main batt. every since, my bike had problem free starts!

u should change to a new battery, a reputable brand like yuasa or shinco. if the problem still came, then u try the rectifier mod. but do service ur starter motor, it might have corrosion and so causes high resistance and consume more power to get it to started.

use quality fully ester based 2t from reputable brands like maxima, motul, etc. check every 3weeks for the tension of ur chain. lubing it at least once a week. check the water level of ur battery(if using topable ones) and level of the coolant at least once a month or two.

have the carbs serviced/overhauled by reputable shops for a trouble free and ez start ups. if the carb had jetted correctly, u should experience minimal bogging, a responsive throttle and instant start ups, requiring the choke juz on really cold or rainy occasions.

no matter wad others might say, try to refrain from using engine brake on ur bike. it is a 2stroke engine and certainly not meant for excessive engine braking. while a little of it at low speeds or low rpm does enhance the traction and safety of the bike, engine braking at high speeds or high rpm will definately destroying it slowly, either by excessive wear to the piston ring and the bearings(all are running at a fast speed and forced to slowed down by excessive cutting down of fuel and 2t oil), or overheating(same as above).

all will led to expensive overhauling of the top/bottom end, subjected to availabilty of parts, time and luck!

read up more on 2t & 4t engines, how they work and the diff between them, and understand why engine braking can be suitably applied to 4t engines but not 2t engines. even so, engine braking on 4t bikes at high rpm will kill it sooner or later anyway!

follow this rule- engine for going, brakes for slowing.

check out the mito and aprilia threads, where most of us are active there. also the aprilia rider's club techical forum, where u can read up technical advice and help by some of the most knowledgable bikers ard!

gd luck!

don't own one. but did thought of getting one when i first passed. but decided not to because of its age and 2 stroke which require a little more taking care compared to a 4 stroke which i eventually bought. but to me its really one of the most beautiful naked bike ever. it looks big and for a bike almost 10 years, it still looks modern. it will cost you anything from $1500-$2000 dependng on condition and the year.try to buy one that is well maintained. the wear and tear will cost more than most japanese bikes, but hell, if you buy italian, its all about style, just make sure you can afford the maintainence.

Hi guys, hope my querys can be answered here.

I'm looking for a Cagiva Planet, i like the bike but am afraid of the maintenance of it. Have some questions to ask.

Wat's the rough price for a 2nd hand one?

How is the maintenance of the bike?

Wat are the major problems which the bike always faces?

Are parts easily available & how much more expansive are they compared to jap bike parts?

How's the fuel comsumption of the bike?

Thanks.
