Hi...

I was thinking of making my rims Gold... as in chroming kinda gold, but I want something lasting, so can I powder coat them gold?

Anyone know where I can get them done? Chroming of Powder Coating? And also how much they would cost?

Appreciate any help.

Thanks!

From then to now...

Hi.

I did a skid plate by a metal works company at Changi Road and they brought the plate for powder coating at AMK for me. Just a gauge for you, cost was $40 because they had to change the colour from what they was mass coating at that point. So if you want it a specific colour you've to pay more. If you don't mind waiting then it could be cheaper.

From what I learnt, you've to have the base metal and not something that's already coated or chromed. Maybe it can be done by other companies.

neither. For rims, it should be anodized.

Typically its $40-$50 per rim.

u gotta polish them first then send for hard anodizing, normal anodizing (like those cheap/free lab alloy bolts and nuts) wont last long for harsh road usage

So Any Idea Where To Get It Anodizised?

At a shop

Check yellow pages, almost all the industrial estates will have these shops.

Don't need, just bring them the bare rims. These are not bike shops, so they won't dismantle the rim from the wheel for you. If that's too troublesome for you, bring it to the bike shops, they will dismantle and send for anodising, and re-lace for you. Of course, then it will cost you more.

i went to a couple of bike shops... and they refuse to do it for me... they say that the anodizing might damage the rims... and that for gold i cannot powder coat... only way is to spray...

is it because of the material?

i know the ducati brembo rims are alloy...

anyone??

Ask the bike shop to dismantle the wheels and you then bring it to anodising yourself. Then ask the bike shop to re-install the wheels. For gold, I think powdercoat not feasible; most companies would not have that shade.

Cheers

If yours are alloy sports rims then spraying is the best option.

It's quite common for car owners to do that, especially the Subaru cars gold rims.
