Hi there,

 

I'm having trouble in choosing a new bike as my old phantom is coming to it's end (10years).

I'm looking at Yamaha Spark X1R, Honda CBF150 and Honda Tiger.

This is my only choice but still cannot decide which 1 to get. Got to place order tomorrow, been thinking about it for about a month plus.

Can anyone help? I know it's hard as tomorrow I have to place order.

But guys out there please try your best to advice. If I got the wrong choice I will regret.

its just a matter of what r u looking for. some bikes offer a little-of-this-and-a-little-of-that, and others have quirks. but at the end of the day, all bikes get you from A to B. Honda and Yamaha have tried and tested track records in SG, so either way, you'll be fine. Questions remain, such as, do you pillion often? Do you like to speed? want great pickup? etc etc.

 

i wud recommend going with your budget to pick from the above shortlisted 3, since, in my limited experience, all 3 seems rather decent. just minor variations in CC.

If I'm not wrong I think I'm getting the Honda tiger out or the 3 bikes. Bigger tyre than the rest that is more stable on the road. Power is much more better. But I saw the post that Honda Tiger engine is Honda Phantom engine? How truth is it? Honda Phantom engine after sometimes will have a bit of problem. I've been riding Honda Phantom 200cc for 10 years. That is why it's holding me back.

ironically, the 18" rims might give a little hickup as most shops stock tyres of 15 to 17 inch. just a matter of needing to order. Yes, it is using the phantom TA200 engine.

 

can emphasize abit more on the phantom engine problem you encountered?

Hi guys,

 

You guy would never believe it. I now at ban hon (AMK). When I'm on the way here I saw the 3 bike that I've choose at the same time. Yamaha X1R on the right Tiger on the left front behind tiger is CBF 150. Suddenly a car drive pass them in the centre at a fast speed. X1R lost a bit of his balance n go further right. Tiger saw it coming n speed off the car did not over take him. CBF 150 got throw off behind. So from this I know what bike to get now.

So I made up my mind. I have place my order for TIGER.

My ordering time is tomorrow but when I saw the incident just now I just go ahead n order the tiger. It is much more stable n safer on the road.

I ask ban Hon to change both the tyre to bridgestone when collecting the bike trade in the org tyres top up 200.

congrats on your Tiger! i've been using Tiger for abt 9 months now. for me, it has been great. it has good FC and also power especially with pillion. when will you get the bike? is it the new model or '09 model? only downside is lack of aftermarket parts though you can get it from the bros from bajaj.

- Belly pan

- Tank bra

- Rear wheel rims that can fit wider tires on

- enlarge front disc brake need to make sure the mounting bolts are the correct fit and your brake calipers are still able to mount properly...

- belly pan can custom made but haven seen tiger in singapore have it yet...but the total cost+shipping?if more then shipping will be cheaper...

- tank bra can custom make at aunty shop

- wider tires is not only rear rims...need to check if your swing arm can fit or not...if not will rub against your swing arm and rear fender...can try out different tire brands 1st see if can fit wider tires into your stock swing arm without any interference...different tire brands the tire width and height and thickness different...although same spec but still will have differences...

The wider tires is tricky. I've seen a YouTube video showcasing a rim for tiger that fits a 130 width tire, but that's only it. Never say anything about installation. Very tricky.

whats the stock tire size for tiger?

with the stock size can roughly gauge how much more you can widen your tires

hey guys. my bike is gonna be 1 year old in nov. any recommendation on what to do servicing wise? im thinking brake and tyres. so far i've changed eo and spark plug only. and of course sinnob.

Sorry for the late reply i change my tyre to Bt45 bridgestone for $90 at ban hon bros

 

Yeah bro alvinyansg,i have been using the protec ignition coil n air filter well all i can say Power bro and change my rear sprocket to 41 teeth lose a bit pick up but the distance damn good

tigers bros u all should try the protek aftermarket for tiger really make the different bro
