dont mind me asking, what does it do?

it aids in improving the scavenging of exhaust gases from the combustion chamber + reducing the amount of waste heat that ends up on the engine block itself which inturn reduces the cooling efficiency of the air-cooled engine block that we have :) oh, and it reduces (by alot) the amount of heat that wafts up between the legs while we wait at traffic lights :p hahaha! i did mine with aluminium foil and a handful of metal hoseclamps, i wud honestly say its more of a fun thing to do, rather then for incredible amounts of +++hp

bro. is it a typo or does it really reduce the cooling efficiency? isnt increasing the cooling efficiency better?

haha yes! typo! it increases the cooling efficiency of the aircooled engine block fins because the exhaust does not heat up the airflow that much

just kepo here ... why not using the dei heat warp as option? hehe

you're right, it was an option in the beginning but after considering, i cant justify the cost. hence i went down the route of DIY and having fun fiddling with the bike :)

typical dedicated options cost easily $50-100 for the components to wrap the bike :) after considering the benefits, i reckon it was just fun to try to wrap it with alu foil, coupled with hi-heat paint and a handful of hose clamps that were lying around at home.

haha .. so how's riding with it on wet day? ... exhaust pipe smokey than normal? ...

previously yes i used the heat wraps .. it's really good but the problems i surfaced is when riding during wet weather .. the wraps makes exhaust really smokey and since i'ved a mild sinus, it quite a bother to me .. hehehe

i've been riding it over the last few rainy days, all seems well, no problems with smoke or fumes other then the initial 1st day when the heat cures the hi-temp paint fully. today rode w my gf, totally no smell/fumes/smoke at all.

the good thing about using alu wrap is that it is water proof, riding in the rain just meant that even if water gets splashed on the exhaust, it evaporates. normal heatwrap fibres will soak it up and stink unless it has been coated with sealants.

heres what i did, :p

1.) tear the aluminium into 1foot chunks, (for pulsar/tigers, 1ft can go round our exhaust twice) depending on how thick you want it to be, tear a suitable amount, i tore 4 chunks per section (hence total 8 pieces, 4 for top part thats immediately connected to the engine, 4 for the later part, ending before the catalytic converter)

2.) take 2 pieces and coat it generously with hi-heat spray (mustafa got sell for $10+ got black or silver)

3.) start wrapping it from the end (meaning nearer the catalytic converter, this will allow the top wrap to overlap and cover the bottom part from scooping up water or debris)

4.) with every layer, tighten it as best as you can, its ok if its crumpled, air will help insulate it better

5.) wrap the top, ensuring the top alu later overlaps the already-wrapped-bottom layer slightly

6.) clamp with clamps at suitable locations

7.) one last coat of hi-heat to cover the hoseclamps and any exposed aluminium(there shudnt be any)

enjoy!

nice bro. i've been planning to put the ones at the sides(im not sure the name). to increase the grip but keep putting it off. haha

enquiry: i noticed our stock bulbs are 30W for both the high and low beams. Any idea if it can be fitted with a 60/55W bulb instead?

sorry bro. got no idea.

it looked more like this with 2 rounded contact studs at the base:

http://img.alibaba.com/wsphoto/v1/401240068/Free-shipping-P15D-25-1-12V35-35W-motorcycle-headlight-bulb.jpg model seems to be P15D or something, not very common
