Hello all! just bought my Tiger Revo yesterday. Got it from AS Phoon Changi. OTR 8.8k, so yeah i know its pretty expensive but i got a good deal for my Gilera so i hopped on the chance. To be honest, i went to the shop to check out the f150i and the fz16 but upon seeing the Honda Tiger i immediately bought it without proper research(only saw this thread AFTER i bought it lol). Fortunately it turned out to be a really good biike.

 

The only problem is that my idling shoots up to 4.5k. Have not done anything to the bike so maybe you guys can help me rectify this? you can say im a COMPLETE noob having spent the last 5 years riding an automatic bike. even took me awhile to get used to the gear clutch riding.

 

From what i gather from this thread is that Unique @ Toh Guan seems like the ideal place to go and service/mod my bike. Anywhere else? Living in the east here. Was thinking about getting new handlebars and tubeless tyres at the moment. if someone would give me a rough estimate of the cost for both that would be awesome.

 

Finally is there anyone who found an ideal place to put the IU? the mech at As Phoon installed it right above my Speedometer. yeah lame i know.haha!.

Congrats bro idjekyll ,frankly speaking its quite gd bike as now my mileage coming to 10,000km so far so goog hope it stay that way

As for idling Rpm me too got the same issue when i first took the bike,U can try to play ard wth cabaratuer fuel knob adjust it for lower RPM

it works for me.As for the bike workshop Unique not bad coz i change my tyre there Michelin sporty for both $120 n my handle bar ill change at the ang mo kio for $40 lower abit than the original And for Iu unit ill still havent put it most probably put together wth the side Mirror

hello guys. anyway i went to Unique @ kaki bukit and i have to say those people there arent exactly very helpful. curt answers and doesnt seem interested to help. well i guess id have better response here than at the bike shop. got a couple of questions and i apologise in advance for the noob questions. am hoping these questions would help newbies or those interested in getting the bike too.

 

1) what kind of EO do you guys use?

2) whats the best workshop to send my bike for servicing for good? e.g with mechs that have a good understanding of tigers. would prefer a bike shop in the east but im willing to go anywhere if it means my bike gets the upmost care.

3)how often do you do servicing? e.g EO, chain, carb washing etc etc. i just wanna know the BASIC upkeep.

4) just got my idling back down to 1.2 from 4.5. im thinking 1.2 is abit too low. what do you think?

5) i dunno if anyone tiger riders out there who figured out where to put the IU cos my IU now is covering my speedo.

Bro have u try the shop that i recommend u at the Amk ind,Victor can give u advise anyway i went to Unique at Toh Guan branch quite ok n the guyz there very friendly,

As for the EO i use Motul got alot of range mine V300 every 2,000km and sprk plug every twice EO change

The Carb for me if its still ok juz leave it for me every 6 mths i think its ok

Ur idling of 1.2 its ok mine i set to 1.5 bro

as for IU no idea i still havent put bro

Yo bro idjekyll. Welcome to the Tiger family haha!! My Tiger juz turned 1 year 6 mths!! Haha, yeah juz intro myself, I am the 1st Tiger Revo 200 owner when it was first launched in late 2009. Anyway guys juz an update so far, yeah after my 'major servicing' at Unique Toh Guan, the bike is running smooth for the past ~1 mths already.

 

Anyway bro, not to worry too much abt basic stuff, cause it's a Honda 2B bike afterall, so basically you have a very reliable Jap bike in your hands. But of course you have to take care of it also la. For EO i got try semi-syn and fully-syn. Honestly, it's yr personal preference la. I tried like most of the brands ready. Right now, my last EO was OWS, but honestly I dont think very smooth. You can try castrol, motul, etc etc. Over time u can decide which is best for you. As for bike shop to recommend, since it's a 2B bike, almost all bike shop can handle the bike servicing like EO, spark plug, tyre change etc etc. I used to frequent Soon Hin at Yishun Industrial park since I live in the North, but recently I tried Unique after getting to know abt them through this forum and the SBF 9th Anni celebrations. Unique is also nearer to my sch (NTU) thats why I go there now. So you can go to your regular bike shop man, shouldnt be any problem.

 

I think since u juz bought yr bike, the carb shld be fine la. Mine had problem after 6 mths so i serviced it (may 2010). Then recently I serviced it again at Unique when i did my major servicing. Honesly servicing yr carb nt big issue la, so u can tahan until when u really feel like got problem. I almost never wash my bike before, cause the rain help me wash it, HAHA. Erm, you can lube yr chain once a week la, to prevent rust and maintain it. Erm yeah 4.5 k rpm is indeed high when idle. Perhap u control the knob bring down to 1.5k rpm. I think 1.5k is the best, so u can give it a try.

Erm, the IU for mine is near the left side of my handle bar, but this is also personal preference so u shld see where u want to put it.

 

Ok bro good to here u enjoying your Tiger too. Anything feel free to post here. Let's make this thread active for all Tiger owners so we can share experience and tips.

Hey chaos. Yeah I am fine man. Sorry been very very busy, so nt much time to update myself on this forum. Anyway my Tiger is doing well. Although I felt the pinch of spending over $700++ but I think for maintanance and safety, should not see the money factor.

 

Ok anyway just for your info, I not sure if Unique still doing HEL or not, cause mine is from Star Performance. Ok not to worry, the quality is 100% the same. I also changed my brake pads to EBC. So now overall my braking is very smooth and good. I think you can call up Unique for more information. for the rear sprocket very amazing less vibration gd distance speed but lower torque but overall very impressive .....nex job gonna service my front fork make it harder.....Chaos out chows
