When we build a superbike, we have no time for second best. We now present the very latest in racing power. With an aluminium bridge, radial brakes, a super sporty tail-up nose-down design, hot colours and the ultimate combination of electronic rider assistance systems: the first genuine racing ABS, whose features include a front-wheel-only mode, dynamic traction control (DTC) which permits varying degrees of slip, depending on the lean angle. The more the rider hangs off, the more upright the bike and the longer the lines on leaving the curve. Never before was it so easy to keep so much power under control. This is just as true on public roads as it is down on the racetrack. The RR label shows that it is a full-blooded racing bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy. And our motorsports team agree wholeheartedly.

A motorcycle designed for the race track, built to deliver acceleration that takes your breath away.

The DoubleR is a genuine race bike, even though it can also be ridden with a number plate attached. To top it all off is an engine which is our absolute pride and joy. And our Motorsport team agree wholeheartedly.

The new BMW S 1000 RR is a highly innovative straight-four supersports from BMW Motorrad now making its world debut.

This true milestone in the world of sports machines combines engine output of 142 kW (193 hp) with overall weight of just 204 kg (450 lb) including fuel (183 kg/403.5 lb dry weight, 206.5 kg/455.3 lb overall with Race ABS).

Specifications of this calibre make this supersports machine not only an absolute highlight in terms of its power-to-weight ratio and performance, but also, equipped with Race ABS and DTC Dynamic Traction Control, a new benchmark in terms of riding dynamics, safety and innovation.

Team BMW Motorrad Motorsport has been playing an active role in the World Superbike Championship since the beginning of the 2009 racing season, the new S 1000 RR setting the foundation for the production-based racing machines ridden by BMW Motorrad’s two works riders Troy Corser and Ruben Xaus.

After spending its inaugural development season challenging the 2009 World Superbike Championship with factory riders Ruben Xaus and two-times world champion Australian Troy Corser, the new S1000RR exceeded expectations, finishing the series with a gratifying seventeen top-ten finishes. The S1000RR is now poised to arrive in BMW Motorrad showrooms in January of 2010.

The S1000RR will debut with an MSRP of $17,300, a price that includes Race ABS, Dynamic Traction Control (DTC) and Gear Shift Assist as standard equipment. The only option available on the S1000RR will be the Alarm System, priced at (USD)$265.

Combining an all-new high-performance engine with lightweight construction, sophisticated chassis dynamics and race-engineered brake and suspension components, the BMW S1000RR will set a new benchmark for ultra-high performance motorcycles - on both the racetrack and the road.

The 999cc liquid-cooled, DOHC, sixteen valve, inline four-cylinder power unit is brand-new from the ground up, bred for racing, developing a maximum output of 193 hp at 13,000 rpm (rev-limited to14,200 rpm) and maximum torque of 82.5 lb-ft at 9,750 rpm.

With overall weight of just 206.5 kg including fuel and Race ABS the S1000RR will also take its place as the lightest motorcycle equipped with ABS in the supersports category.

The combination sets a new standard in its class with a power-to-weight ratio of just 1.06 kg (2.34 lb) per horsepower with Race ABS.

The new BMW S1000RR has been designed not only to compete in the World Superbike Championship, but to take its place among the élite of supersports motorcycles.

2010 BMW HP2 Sport

http://www.totalmotorcycle.com/photos/2010models/2010-BMW-HP2Sportd.jpg

2010 BMW HP2 Sport

The sportiest and most powerful series production flat twin of all time, the HP2 Sport continues into model year 2010 with the addition of a special Motorsport Edition.

The HP2 Sport Motorsport Edition continues to be powered by the familiar flat twin engine equipped with double overhead camshafts delivering 133 hp at 8750 rpm, but emulating the look of the BMW Motorrad Motorsport factory racers, featuring fairing, fuel tank, seat bench, front mudguard and engine spoiler painted in the BMW Motorsport colours Alpine White, Lupine Blue metallic and Magma Red.

Outstanding race results are inexorably linked with BMW Motorrad’s flat twin “Boxer” models. So it is an obvious step to build a high-end version! The result is the BMW HP2 Sport: the uncompromising realisation of the 24-Hour Endurance racer as a road machine. 100 per cent motor racing genes, licensed for the road. An exclusive sports machine by BMW Motorrad for motor racing connoisseurs and 2-cylinder enthusiasts which puts racing expertise into serial production - with power and authenticity. With an incredible air/oil-cooled 133 bhp and 115 Nm - a unique performance for a serial production “Boxer”!

The BMW HP2 Sport caused quite a stir with its race track appea*rances - rarely has a 2-cylinder flat twin bike caused the competition so much trouble, it even outdistanced many a 4-cylinder bike. In the last 24-hour race at the Oschersleben Speedweek, both machines entered in the race finished in the overall top 10. One reason for this perfor*mance is the DOHC cylinder head*, which is being used for the first time in this fascinatingly engineered enthusiast’s motorcycle.

For all ambitious sports riders and keen flat twin fans a unique limited edition of 400 is now to be produced: derived from the paint finish of the Endurance machine, it is finished in the colours Alpine White /Indigo Blue / HP Red. As in the racing machine, the rims are finished in Indigo Blue at the front and Alpine White at the rear. Otherwise all the familiar specifications apply, including the material - leading to a sensational dry weight of 178 kg - and the impressive performance figures. In short: take the opportunity to put it away right now - or else use it for what it was built for and order a second set of rims for the rain tyres along with it! *

* DOHC = Double OverHead Camshaft, double overhead camshaft for each cylinder.

With a staggering 130 horsepower, the HP 2 Sport features the most powerful Boxer engine ever designed by BMW Motorrad. For the first time ever, double overhead camshafts are included in our famous opposed twin cylinder motor, kicking out even more revs. Making the HP2 Sport even more track-ready is new Quickshifter technology, which means faster gear changes without having to chop the throttle or use the clutch. Add a fully adjustable Ohlins sport front and rear suspension, Radial mounted Brembo Monobloc brakes, a lightweight carbon fiber aerodynamic fairing, not to mention forged racing wheels and tires and a MotoGP-inspired cockpit that computes lap times and other racing data, and the result is one of the most advanced sport bikes to ever scorch the tarmac.

2010 BMW R1200RT

The new BMW R 1200 RT has everything you would look for on a long *journey: comfort, practicality and speed. It handles the twisting roads north of the border with incredible agility, while its redesigned fairing offers excellent protection for both rider and pillion passenger against wind, rain and air turbulence.

The punchy new boxer engine delivers generous amounts of torque, for instant responses right through the rev range. The new DOHC (double overhead camshaft) valve operating system from the HP2 Sport delivers a maximum torque of 120 Nm at 6000 rpm and a rated output of 110hp.

And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system with built-in radio and mp3 player available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a roller wheel on the left grip.

As far as 2-cylinder fans are concerned, first-class touring has a memorable abbreviation - and it’s been around for 30 years: RT. For long-haul travellers there can hardly be any other term which has always stood for perfectly conceived motorcycling concept from start to finish: excellent wind and weather protection, optimum ergonomics, highly convenient operation combined with a top-class chassis fitted with the unique optional extras ASC and ESA II*. In the touring segment, these features probably define the ultimate benchmark of innovation. Even though the R 1200 RT cuts a superb figure everywhere with its dynamic new design, everything about it sends out the message: built to cover thousands of miles, preferably in one go.

Then there is this fascinating mixture of distinctive engine and big bike dynamics. The characteristic “boxer” supremacy has been further enhanced in the current version: the engine’s crowning glory is now the radial DOHC** valve operating system from the HP2 Sport, though here designed for greater torque and without any loss of running smoothness: maximum torque 120 Nm, at 6000 rpm, rated output still at 81 kW (110 bhp). This means a tangible increase in thrust from the lower engine speed range through to above the medium range. The new valve control in the exhaust system ensures a discreet but more dynamic sound.

And in terms of comfort, the bike boasts a new audio system available as an optional extra, with the innovative operating concept Multi-Controller carrying out virtually all commands from a single unit. So there’s only one thing you have to do yourself - drop by for a test ride.

*ESA II = Electronic Suspension Adjustment. Electronic spring mount and spring rate adjustment

** DOHC = Double Overhead Camshaft, two overhead camshafts per cylinder

Climb aboard - there's a whole world out there waiting to be discovered. With a power output of 110 bhp, and 115 Nm of torque, the BMW R1200RT is a motorcycle built for beautiful touring moments. The chassis incorporates the BMW Motorrad Telelever and Paralever for ease of handling, while the EVO brake with the partially integral version of BMW Motorrad Integral ABS ensures maximum safety. The combination of aerodynamically optimized fairing and an electrically adjustable windshield offers excellent protection against the elements, and the class-leading ergonomics mean rider and pillion passenger can enjoy the freedom of the open road in complete comfort.

2010 BMW R1200GS Adventure

Wherever you are, get ready for it: whether taking a quick trip to the nearest mountains or setting off for a different continent to discover faraway new cultures. Range is not a problem with a tank capacity of 33 litres. Robustness? The G 1200 GS Adventure looks as if it had invented the term - and it certainly has defined it in the motorcycle world. This is partly due to the range of features which have become almost as legendary as the bike itself. On this machine you can take potholes with 20 mm more clearance than on the R 1200 GS. Perfect ergonomics, optimum gearing for every terrain. And a chassis which - whether fully loaded or not - will allow you to thrill your pillion passenger as well as surprise anyone ahead of you. Stone chip? Falls? Protectors! Ride on! The special equipment features off-road ESA and ASC continue to be unsurpassed. Unstoppable is their motto.

The bike’s unstoppable character is further enhanced with the new DOHC engine*, which first displayed its impressive performance in the legendary HP2 Sport. For the R 1200 GS Adventure, torque was given higher priority than output in line with practical considerations. And you can feel it. 120 Nm at the peak at 6000 rpm is one thing, but the consistently higher level of torque in the relevant range up to 5000 rpm can be fully experienced. The output has been increased to 81 kW (110 bhp) at 7750 rpm). The supreme riding pleasure is underscored by a powerful sound from the new exhaust system with exhaust flap which will everyone will love – so take a test ride now!

I'm really amazed at how much power they can still squeeze out of that air/oil cooled boxer engine. Ducati have given up and went for liquid cooled engines for the Multistrada already.
