hi guys, need some opinions on this issue.

hi guys, today when i was travelling in town, this comfort taxi stopped suddenly in front of a turning junction. i was going to turn left but as he blocked the road i couldnt therefore i changed to the next lane and on my signal to turn left. as i turned he suddenly moved off and knocked my bike.

 

bike didnt drop i wasnt injured or anything but his car bumper came off. my bike apparantly had no scratches or any damages at all from the encounter but his car bumper came off and he expects me to pay for the damages. police came and took down particulars then told them we would settle it among ourselves.

 

he insisted on me paying for his damages which i agreed to because he said it would probably be cheap and it would take only changing of a few screws if he takes his vehicle to a workshop himself instead of the companys workshop cause they will claim from insurance and he said it would cost alot more and it saves us the hassle to report to claim from insurance company and if he cant claim the full amount i probably would have to pay even more for the excess amount.

 

 

in this case, is he actually in the right of way? and am i really supposed to pay for his car damages?

of course not..he langah u from behind..means hes not careful in checking traffic conditions before moving off = careless driving.

imo shud be u claim him not the other way around. disgusting how he tries to pervert the facts despite it being his fault.

 

..im not so sure u shud believe what he says about it being cheap..taxi drivers are famous for having inflated claims..

what will protect u if he suddenly presents u with a gi-normous bill?

 

ok, i might be over-reacting here, if u feel u can write off the compensation as being ur 'lucky' day then just do what ur comfortable with

but then hor, i got one qn..why didnt u just wait behind him for awhile? o.0

im waiting for him to quote the repairs by tmr morning. if its too overboard of course i wouldnt pay for everything, i hope to solve things amicably la.

 

i dont want to refer to insurance company also cause i got nothing to claim. if he manages to claim from me and i have to pay even more then i think its quite unfair for me.

 

and as for why i didnt wait behind him was cause i was quite close to him/turning point when he stopped and the passenger havent even got on the cab at all so i thought he would stop for sometime so i changed lane and turned. and after he knocked the bike i realised the passenger didnt get on the cab which is why he suddenly move off so fast.

To be safe, juz report your story to your insurance agent. There is 24hrs time limit to report the accident. I do mean REPORT only.

 

This is because Taxi Drivers are very creative one. You hit behind, they can claim front bumper also. Vise-versa hahaha.

 

If the other lane has an arrow to indicate turning, you might have a case there. See how much he quote the repairs, if a few bucks, juz pay, which i dun think you need if you have the right of way.

 

And take this as a lesson, Patience is virtue, Horn if not happy, and yeah Loud Pipes Saves Lives. heheh.

lol the taxi bumper spoilt so he purposely go and bang you make it fall off so that he can have free repairs

 

you should have told him your rear fender spoilt also... see, here got scratch, there got scratch (point to old scratches) i claim ur insurance sia
