spenx.. someone in UK just fitted super tenere hand guards on TDM

http://i231.photobucket.com/albums/ee233/arbretree/DSCF3533.jpg

got it from yamaha dealer for 38 GBP.. less than 100 SGD...

shall check on HL... but he said it's not direct fit.. need some bracket to mount..

$100?woah...sounds super reasonable..but i doubt it will be selling at that price here..the ori xt660z handgrds already cost $250-300

finally... you are here..

Handguards... i'll recommend barkbusters from Mtech... value for money.

there are other choices like GS hand guard, Vstorm handguard or someone even using LAB handguard..

Panniers ?? depends on ur need, pelican, givi, H&B, TRAX... look around and you will see more good deals..

Sahll we see you on Jan 8th GP Petronas ?

spenx...wah...finally you bought TDM...last few years we debated on the bikes...

After store power for about 2 years. . . lol, finally committed.

Yeah, in fact feel safer to use handguards with metal reinforcement. might go take a look at barkbusters then.

nice and sturdy panniers that are not too bulky? so its Givi from Chaip lee, H&B from Mteck, Trax from BT21? or any better shop to recommend?

About meeting on 8th, can't play with the bike as yet. . . wanna send the bike for serv, not doubting the previous owner but just for peace of mind. There is a certain 'lag' when i blip the throttle n the rpm is not stable at idle. Maybe time for airfilter clean / valve clearance / sync?

Mind if i go with my xr4 if i can make it?

Welome Bro !!! To the TDMers Family !!! Whose TDM did you take over ?

Bought over the bike from Han Khiong, the blue '02 one. Wonderful guy to deal with. . . actually enjoyed the transaction. Didn't know we had a common friend. . . lol

XR4 also can... mountain bike also can.. :D

we have different pannier users among TDMs on this small community.

1. ansley - Big Ass Pelicans (super huge, stong and super big)

2. twinterror? - original Yamaha (aerodynamic, sleek and nice, but not so strong case)

3. leong - H&B alu 35L

4. TakeHow - givi e21, (slim cases, not very attractive but functionable)

5. Firestorm - givi e21

6. Thomas - givi e52 (big ass, lots of space but not water proof)

7. Kmax - 35L pelican (strong but slim profile, cannot fit helmet, not quick release)

8. Firdhaus - H&B junior panniers - (look good and strong, common choice for tourers)

9. Hafiz - H&Bjunior panniers

10. Angelo - H&Bjunior panniers

anyone i miss out ?

Thanks for the info on the panniers guys. Actually my heart already tell me to go for H&B. . . let's hear what my wallet tells me. . . haha.

How much shd i set aside for a luggage set? (yeah yeah. . . i know its almost free to use a plastic beer crate secured with used inner liners but. . . some realistic amount? $1 grand with change?)

most guys like H&B alu, last one who bought new was Leong ? he paid 800$ for boxes from Mtech,

he already got the panniers, else u need to spend more on that.. pelicans are cheaper or at least equivelent.

http://cariboucases.com/store/?name=Catalog&mode=i&item=000063

US$ 305, plus shipping about 50~70 US$, so.. it's less than 800 SG$

but need to fabricate the mounting.

The caribou cases comes with the straps , identical keylock for a pair of boxes and the straps (watever u call it to let ur box open at a 45 degree

If you want cheaper just order a normal Pelican 1550 case without those additional stuff for less than 300 USD before shipment should be less than 600SGD in total

Caribou got the mounting kit for Hepco, Givi racks which allow you to mount and remove easily

Hope that info helps :thumb:

Im still deciding Pelican or the 35L Alu.. oh well

My ex-Company doing Aluminium works... Can get my ex-colleague to quote provide you have some quantity and most important the dimension... Can ask around who keen...

Can do a better job... instead of rivetting from the picture can do an argon welding (just like what we see on our bike frame)...

From the picture I see the owner cuts, bends and rivets the bash plate himself... You guys can do that if are on a budget....

well.. most of us (at least me) are lazy chap... for heavy jobs

minor mods, repairs are fine but such alu, metal works... i better leave it to professionals.

and most of us have different model of crash bar (engine guard) so there there will be more holes to drill.

mirza.....i wassup you liao...

Spenz....i think the multiplo abit too big for the TDM don't you think?checkout Barkbuster...it's the same cost.As the TDM are more sharp in design.

Don't worry me either... When started can't get it up even I uses all my milk strength...

But thanks to all the advise from "SEE FU" Thomas and Ang Mo... I do it with ease now...

But here I'll try my best to describe using my limited grammars...

First, level up the main stand...

Second, your left hand hold the handle bar, right hand go under the frame (near the seat key lock)

** This is very important... I've try the passenger grab bar... here there, everywhere can't work... only that position... G Spot...

Third, apply your body weight on the main stand, meanwhile pull up your right hand on the frame...

Fourth, you should able to pull the monster on main stand now..

I've try for a few times to get the "center of gravity" position of the bike...

Anyway, demo would still be the best if you still don't really understand my description...

Best is still to demo to you during meet up...
