spenx...check what brand your mainstand is...if H&B...die cock standing....no matter what technik.....it's tough as hell...

 

Ciggratte agent used to have that on his TDM...then he switched to SW-motech..the more realistik and cheap mainstand there is for the TDM.

 

oh btw...my Vmax just sold...and just 1day before you deal with Ang's TDM,i did text the number....was trying my luck to lowball abit...$5.5k can?

jus wanna ask, is there any bike shops that u guys know of selling TDM? i've been looking around lately for a TDM but sadly, very very very few avail online.. also, some newbie questions to ask, is TDM an old bike or are there still new production of the bike? if u guys know of any shop or person who is selling this bike please PM me can? thanks a bunch!

WAh! Lowballer alert! hahaha. . . i didn't give a 'deposit' after we agreed on a transaction price so i ask if the next day someone offer $6.5k then how? At least he steady. Actually afraid of highballers more than lowballers

 

I dunno what main stand that is. . . the part which contact the ground have a almost non existence "D" to help rotate the stand straight. Also, the part where u step on, the face is smooth, no ridges.

hopefully there's a meetup in weeks to come...then you can come down and compare with the rest...i think most of the guys are using the SW-motech ones....we use to compare both mainstand in the way many pages back of this thread.

Verdict...the SW-motech wins....

reptiletan, TDM is still in production, but Yamaha Agent HL does not bring in anymore, to boost SuperTen 1200 sales i guess.

so you wont find brand new bikes anymore in SG..

i've met silver TDM and 0yuan0 before.. really solid custom crashbars and nice LV pipes... good price for good bike.

 

latest models around (at least i know of) is Angelo's bike, last piece from HL.

 

however from 02-03.. normal key

 

04 onwards sensor key... the rest is the same.. bullet proof parallel twin engine .

 

According to Angelo, older model is more powerful....

If you are looking for an '07 model, I doubt the owners would want to let go. But then, regardless of its year of manufacture, a TDM is still a TDM and will always perform. as far as i recall, we dont have white TDM on forum, except AJ's sprayed spare fairing to white before.

 

i've seen 2 white on the road before, one ang moh near balestier and another one chinese uncle.

ya... I chinese despatch uncle with a LV and givi windscreen TDM running around shenton way daily...

 

 

@ Reptile, I suggest to get the cheapest one you can find.. There's some difference in the forks spring ratings across the years but it's negligible. Old keys means cheaper key replacement when you lose them..

 

a 07 one was going for 14k sometime back i think. Bonestock.. I rather grab a 7k to 8k old TDM with pipes on it already... then spend some money tidying it uup alittle... the problem with this bike is, you can't find anything to fault it with...

 

I've been constantly wanting to buy a KTM SMT or a BMW F800R.. But somehow, the TDM doesn't lose out to these bikes anyday... Ok

 

it does look alittle uglier

it does run alittle slower

it does not have as good suspensions

 

But

 

the ease of spare part and maintenance free and the dollar to dollar cost comparision between the bikes, I'll stick with my TDM anyday..

uglier ? looks are personal preference.. i dont like KTM's look especially 990adv's single head light.

slower ? not for alvin, ansley, takehow ..

good suspension ? progressive front fork spring 80S$, ohline rear spring 120 S$

 

and i totally agree with maintenance and cost value.

 

been riding my TDM everyday for past 2 years.. anytime pack and go for trip.

 

came back from trip, next day just start and go for work.. weekend go and play offroad.. TDM rocks...

As for the handguard, I felt that it has these few function...

1. Aesthetics ! Coolz !

2. Protection during off-road from branches...

Protection during on road against car side mirror...

3. Crash those car side mirror when they get too close to you...

 

But I'll feel mixed about the metal insert that you mention about...

With the metal insert it gives the bike extra protection during fall...

But incase of an accident it might hurt you more than protect...

 

My own story account: Meet an accident when riding my DR6, hand slip and hit the clutch lever, suffer Radius fracture... I told myself luckily I have just removed my handguard c/w metal insert for spraying... If its there my hand might have gone...
