amazing! so apparently i didnt make a wrong choice in finding a tdm.. haha.. this is exactly the kind of bike i am looking for! anywhere else i can get a tdm other than from sbf and slackrider? so far i only seen the '02 silver one..

I brought mine @ $7.8... with a low mileage of 55k... At that time there a few offering, good pricing with good accessories but slight high mileage over 130k...

As for the handguard, I felt that it has these few function...

1. Aesthetics ! Coolz !

2. Protection during off-road from branches...

Protection during on road against car side mirror...

3. Crash those car side mirror when they get too close to you...

But I'll feel mixed about the metal insert that you mention about...

With the metal insert it gives the bike extra protection during fall...

But incase of an accident it might hurt you more than protect...

My own story account: Meet an accident when riding my DR6, hand slip and hit the clutch lever, suffer Radius fracture... I told myself luckily I have just removed my handguard c/w metal insert for spraying... If its there my hand might have gone...

metal bracket definitely gives better protection when bike falls to side..

i've seen youtube video that offroad rider fly over handlebar but hand caught in handguard.. ouch..

so it's pro and con of having one more metal piece on ur bike, .. resolution.. dont get into accident

That is if you're flying on the TDM....you won't be seeing anything like that anytime now...or before...although you will see a few crashes though..

Reptiles are animals in the (Linnaean) class Reptilia. They are characterized by breathing air, laying shelled eggs, and having skin covered in scales and/or scutes. Reptiles are classically viewed as having a "cold-blooded" metabolism. They are tetrapods (either having four limbs or being descended from four-limbed ancestors). Modern reptiles inhabit every continent with the exception of Antarctica, and four living orders are currently recognized:

ya... I chinese despatch uncle with a LV and givi windscreen TDM running around shenton way daily...

@ Reptile, I suggest to get the cheapest one you can find.. There's some difference in the forks spring ratings across the years but it's negligible. Old keys means cheaper key replacement when you lose them..

a 07 one was going for 14k sometime back i think. Bonestock.. I rather grab a 7k to 8k old TDM with pipes on it already... then spend some money tidying it uup alittle... the problem with this bike is, you can't find anything to fault it with...

I've been constantly wanting to buy a KTM SMT or a BMW F800R.. But somehow, the TDM doesn't lose out to these bikes anyday... Ok

it does look alittle uglier

it does run alittle slower

it does not have as good suspensions

But

the ease of spare part and maintenance free and the dollar to dollar cost comparision between the bikes, I'll stick with my TDM anyday..

you know....if my memory still serve me well....you flip many pages backwords during the time you are still undeciding to go for a glam bike rather than a practical that serves your every needs.....i think i did said the same thing to you...although not the exact words....but relaying the same message....

and i have to disagree with all the 3 points that you have highlighted....btw...joekia....you wearing glasses rite?

YA i wear glasses.. u saw me?

I dun think the TDM is ugly but perhaps the KTM SMT looks more updated.. Neither do i feel that it's slow.. but definatey not as raw and powerful as a multistrada.. Handling definately not as razor sharp as the KTM's famed WP suspension..

BUT... for this money involved... I really cannot fault the TDM...

Posted
uglier ? looks are personal preference.. i dont like KTM's look :p especially 990adv's single head light.

slower ? not for alvin, ansley, takehow ..

good suspension ? progressive front fork spring 80S$, ohline rear spring 120 S$

and i totally agree with maintenance and cost value.

been riding my TDM everyday for past 2 years.. anytime pack and go for trip.

came back from trip, next day just start and go for work.. weekend go and play offroad.. TDM rocks...

Hi to all Tdmiers both guys & gays..... Lord Kmax u forget abt joeboxer???

U is one super fast rider..... At full speed, TDM stood rock steady (even with my slightly wavy front BT020!!!)

With a gd setting on the stock front & rear suspension,,,,,, it somehow does hold to it ground pretty well.

As TDM is not mend for track useage, by setting it 'harder' it can take both fast & smooth corners!!!

DAMN tis reminded my or the trip i had with u & the guys to haiyat.... Perak tunnel & bends r making me 'high'

nw!!!!! Bro maybe next mth me might join thomas up north agin ;) u wanna??? Wakakakaka later ur wify & ur

abt to born kid kicks u rite on ur ass!!!!!
