Just sent my bike to HL today for valve clearance & possible throttle body check to correct the erratic idle n throttle lag. . . was quoted $180 for valve clearance excluding top gasket/o-ring etc. . . seems they must also replace coolant while opening up the top. . . final 'damage' dunno yet. . . can only collect the bike in a few days time, can't ride in the mean time! :(

well, on the bright side, engine should be tip-top after this :)

Bro kindly update us on the damage after seeing the Doctor...

Mine is only 62k for a 8+yrs old... Need to clock more mileage...

Read the manual, advisable to do a valve clearance at 100k...

but they are choosy in bike loan...

someone told me it's easier to get loan for Harleys and Ducatis from Hitachi...

other bikes, there are many rules and regulations... especially for COE ending bikes are lesser chance.

well.. that's just gossip may be.

Ya lor heard of it too, maybe they offer good rate that why they are choosy,,,

looks like R1 forks.. gold brake calipers are unique. need to change triple clamp for sure.. but i dont know how they mod clamp handles to top mount.

notice the bike is really low... even exhausts are not for TDM.. could be hayabusa or zzr exhausts..

i saw it in ADVrider. the thing about greeks .. that they dont post much details but just photos... so secretive.. just like angelo..

Hmm. . . just DL'ed the serv manual from http://jbx9.free.fr/tdm/index.php , says to check valve clearance every 40k, 80k, 120k etc. . . my bike mileage is at about 117k. . . either there was a skipped check earlier on or engine showing signs of premature wear on the valves. . .

They started on my bike today. Did the 'general check' on the bike and updated me with a long list of items recommended to be fixed/replaced. Most are external minor wear n tear parts which are not a big concern to me. . . I'll likely hear the doc's verdict on the engine tomorrow. . .

Question on the rear brakes, anyone using aftermarket disc? Heard the stock disc dun last long. . .

we are using this..

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Rear-Brake-Disc-Rotor-Yamaha-YZF-R1-XJ-XT-TDM-TRX-SRX-/130471933355?pt=UK_Motorcycle_Parts&hash=item1e60bbb5ab

from china.. but listed on ebay uk web... that time gilbert helped to buy a few pieces, which cost us about 85 S$

so far so good, i've been using it for almost a year, on and offroad.

Much more for cosmetic than protection... If you trial with it most likely to fracture...
