Guys, I need your help.

Recently, I purchased a carbon fibre rear hugger w/o chain guard frm ebay.

Upon receiving the good, I immediately tried mounting it on my swingarm. But to my surprise, it juz couldn't fit at all because 1st, even after removing the chain guard, the hole for me to secure the hugger was juz too far away. The right side of my swingarm didn't even have a hole for me to firmly screw on my hugger.

Rite nw i'm quite confused as to how am I to mount this hugger on my bike. There was even thots to drill 2 hole on my swingarm in order to mount it on but i later dismissed it bcoz i feel that safety would be compromised after drilling the holes.

My question now to all is, do you guys have any kind of constructive suggestions as to how I can mount this hugger onto my bike besides the drilling idea?

Below are 3 pics of wad my hugger looks like.

The pic below is the modification of the swingarm which I was talking abt. The pic actually shows the part of that swingarm has been drilled into in order to mount the hugger.

Hope u guys can give me some gd suggestions.

Thanks all in advance.

Thought i bought my hugger locally and its a different design from yours, no problem fitting. But the similar points i want to stress is,

1. drill holes if u must on the hugger,

2. use glue to stick rubber tapes on the underneath of the hugger where it is touching ur swing arms(prevent movements),

3. then cable tie them.

If u need the rubber tapes (not easily found in local stores), i can bring them for u this coming fri for weekly meetups, but i cant confirm as i may have to work OT.

Else if u find everything too complicated and troublesome, u can just give me the huggers for free

i would recommend the use of Power Bronze shield which you can obtain from Bikelab21. :thumb:

I think the shop name is biketech21? Opens in the afternoon around 2pm.

Redbusa, u can take a look at powerbronze as it is thick n tall. Maybe if u coming down for kopi this fri can see some riders using it.

yo Tish, tks for the suggestions n ur offer for those rubber tapes. Ur idea on using adhesive tapes on the underside of the hugger didn't occur to me.

As for drilling holes on the hugger, prob is that the hugger is too short to reach even the mounting hole for the chain guard. But if ure saying drill holes on the hugger to attach brackets, den tat would be feasible.

I noe xmas is ard the corner but i guess i wun be giving bike accessories for xmas prezzie.. hehehehehe.. :cheeky:

Ya, i was refering to drill holes at the inner part for cable ties, 2 ways to drill, either drill 2 holes for each cable tie or drill 1 hole for each cable tie.

But it might weakens the carbon fibre material and it may look ugly.

Drilling holes for brackets, u need to find other source

Dispite all these, u might also want someone to drill holes in ur swingarm, but will it weakens ur swingarm ?

Maybe u want to see mine this fri first.

hey guys, may I know what is the idling RPM that you all set for your bikes? Manual stated between 1250 to 1500 RPM.... I set it at 1250 but I noticed that everytime when i move slowly (esp in carparks)... eg speed below 20km/h... my bike got the coughing symtom... like very jerky... is it okie to set it at the max 1500RPM?

tks in advance bro. were u referring to aluminum strips?

I chanced upon this pic while browsing for bikes wif huggers fitted on with custom fabricated brackets.

Is it something like this? Or is it those long long strips filled wif holes in it?

Extended a knob to somewhere near the engine oil cap for easy adjustment.

My RPM always drop below 1000 or shoot up to above 1500 when idling.

Very unstable. Have to constantly adjust.

U guys got the same problem? Quite troublesome.
