Good day,

This is not trying to be funny thread. just a simple queiries on both bike shop.

Both are top of the few reputable shops in SG.

I'm not expecting the pricing to be the cheapest around (U pay for what u get)

Also not expecting them to be very expensive (No ones like to be carroted)

So in comparisions, who will have a upper hand?

Looi vs Asphoon

1. Salesman's service and attitude

2. Pricing

3. Interest rates

4. transparency

5. aftersales services

6. Bike servicing standard and pricing

7. Penalty for early settlement

8. Ease of paying installment

Any guys got any input? Too long never buy bike already so getting abit rusty

Hahah the mechs were smoking while doing up my bike... I think I shifted my seat back a few steps, scare fire...

Cheap + fast = no good

Cheap + good = not fast

Good + fast = not cheap

Not that i m promoting smoking... but just for info.....

The myth

If you chuck a lit fag-end into a pool of petrol – as we all know from countless filmic explosions – it goes “boom”.

The “truth”

Researchers at the Maryland laboratory of the US Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms set out to test a common arsonists’ excuse: that the fire they’re accused of setting deliberately actually started accidentally when a burning cigarette came into contact with gasoline. Two thousand attempts to set fire to exposed petrol – which included spraying the stuff onto a burning snout – failed to produce a single flame. They tried different brands of ciggy and of petrol, they used a vacuum device to imitate a smoker drawing on a butt, they tried petrol both spread out and concentrated. Nothing. They’re not sure why, given that petrol ignites at 246˚C (475˚F) and cigarettes burn at 700˚C (1,292˚F), but suggest it’s because the fuel has limited contact with the hottest part of the fag.

Other experimenters have had similar results, trying variations of air temperature and humidity. Forty cigarettes at once were thrown into a pan of petrol: it didn’t catch fire. All researchers reported that a match will set fire to spilt petrol, but a tossed cigarette just won’t.

the last time i was @ Loois surveying for bikes, i remember being attended to by a male malay salesperson ... that was around 1/2 a year ago, not sure if he is still around there though ...

with the issue of mechs smoking while working, i dun really have any problems with it ... as long as it keeps him aware of what he is doing ...

back to the topic, with regards to purchase of bikes, i prefer going to either Bike Production or Teo Spray ... maybe T.S. can consider these 2 places as well ...

Teo Spray for one has competitive pricing and they treat customers well and dun have any hidden costs ... and their after sales are fantastic as well ...

i prefer asphoon @ changi.. bought my bike with without any regrets.. no early settlement. But for good pricing must look for salesman James.. my advice is dont ever repair or ask help from mech to do ur bike... but sales wise is 10/10.. very responsible.

7 years ago, when I bought my first bike from ASP, They never charge me penalty for late payment. Of course that's was like 2 ocassions thru-out the installment period. Also no penalty in early settlement. I like their service. And it was Wilson, the boss that attended to me. The best part was he still remeber me after 4 years.

Did call james over the phone a few days back. But have a mixed feeling about him. Guess most bike shop don't really bothers to attend phone calls. They will rather you are down personally. he sounded abit impatient on the phone. Guess that's undestandable.

Actually, My criteria is straight forward. As long the price is same or cheaper than HLcorp by a bit, Interest rate is the common market rate can already.

Of course, the figures must be transparent to buyers.

in the case of phone calls, i think most shops have time-wasters calling to check pricing and are no-shows in the end ... maybe thats y they prefer customers coming down face-to-face ...

also, the fact that they still remember u would mostly mean that even if payment hick-ups were to occur, ur close relationship with them will allow u to talk it out with them, instead of unnecessary misunderstandings ...

all-in-all, buy the bike from someone u trust and have a good relationship with ... it would be easier that way and u will have a peace of mind regarding ur installment ... looks like u have made up ur mind bro ...

ASP ... look out for Black Comet ... he will be coming down soon ... lolx !!

btw bro, what bike r u intending on getting?

Lolz, the joke is, when Wilson remember me was 4 years later. Never see him for 3 years. When I help my friend to send the bike keys there, he remeber me straight away. Kinda funny.

Well, sorry to say this. I don't think I want to be in very good terms with bike shops. I only ask for professionalism. I don't want kumcheng price. cos In a event u get too close. U have a hard times turning them down.

Some of them actually go all the way to help u out to a stage u feel indebted. Nice of them. But sucky for me cos I want a bike that they don't have. And it takes a alot of concious to buy from other bike shop.

I just want a plain TW200 as a work horse. I'm old already.

And I won't be going down too soon. Cos no $. Still waiting for my stupid ex boss to pay me may Jan pay.

Also. Think I will do the standard. Go down to Looi and see see. not to mention ASP changi. Get basic quote. Compare. then decide. AS long standard price with some freebies (I won't ask for much. Just a Original rack and GIVI E450 or kappa equivilent can already). Interst is the standard. Reasonable prefessionism can already.

By the way. Any one know what is the current interest rates for Hire purchase?
