dear forumers,

would like to ask what could be the possible cause for my rear brake to malfunction.

 

normally i depress the rear brake,it would add pressure to the tyre and then cause the bike to slow down.

but suddenly,when i depress the brake pedal. no pressure is felt...

are u on stock or racing footrest? its said racing footrest the rear brake not so sensitive. cos tha angle it is attached to the brake pump abit wrong.

Go get your brake pads and brake fluids checked bro.

 

SP no rear brakes damn dangerous one. Esp using only your front brakes to brake at high speeds. Dun be like me skid and fall on expressway when I jam front brakes.

i got my made in japan rear brake pads for 60. u can get them around that price or cheaper...yup rear brake also uses brake fluid. the resevoir is located under the fairing. near the battery if i rmb correctly.

Possible. Most probably is brake pump.

 

Bfore assuming, check brake pad if there is still life.

Then check Brake Fluid if there is any.

If I 'm not wrong, SP 150 Rear brake system is the same as Phantom.

Go to Phantom Knights Thread - "typical prices for phantom repairs n mods". U will roughly know how much it cost.

Rear brake change is usually $25 inclusive of workmanship. The same price goes for Brake pad.

cheapest brake pump repair i've ever encounter is $10 for krr.

normal brake pads for sp think should be less than $20.

er.. actually this was some years back.. haha..

i think nowadays prepare to pay $1x-$20.

 

this thing better do at a reputable shop, and don't try to budget too much.

 

cause we wanted to do cheaply for my fren's krr at a cheap workshop,

in the end it's not a job well done, and needed to be re done.

serviced my rear brake few days back. Mech changed the rubber inside the brake pump say too old rusty liao. Change liao he found out calliper got problem, need servicing. $60. plus the brake fluid. everything add up $90++. dont know got kana chopped anot. jus pay only.

R u riding NSR150Sp? if yes.

Let's break down the price.

Rubber inside the brake pump, is it the master cylinder kit? if yes, is about $25. Original.

Service Caliper, d he change the caliper seal kit(O-ring)? if yes is about $8. Original.

Brake fluid Dot 3 about $5, Dot 4 about $10.

Total Material cost is about $43. (Bike shop get cheaper from supplier)

Labour is about 1 hour.

 

U paid $90++ so labour cost is $90-$43=$47 per hour.

 

Well, to me this price range is about same as agent.
