Hi guys I would like some advise on this incident.

A car was trying to park in the parallel parking slot, I was behind it waiting for it to park.

As the motorcycling parking slot was just beside the parallel parking, I waited for his car to get into this slot. When his car stopped, i proceeded to the bike parking lot which is about 1-2 meters behind his car.

When I was in my lot already, his car suddenly reversed and sort of knocked/pushed the right side of my bike while I was still on it.

Was trying to press my horn when I saw his reverse light on but im not used to pressing the horn, (just a 1 month old p-plater :pity:) by the time my thumb found the horn i was already halfway falling to my left with the bike.

The driver stopped and came out and asked if I was ok. My bike got no damage or scratch cuz it was really a light knock and his car bumper looks ok except for a knock mark which I dunno whether it was from this incident or not. Oh and I suffered no injuries whatsoever and neither did my pillion.

I asked if his car is ok and he said its fine and kept asking whether we're ok or not. So after scanning thru my bike I asked the driver if everything is ok on his side. After we settle, i walked off

As I was walking off I looked behind and saw what looked like he was taking down my plate no.

So err...after my long "story" I would like to ask if I need to do anything like reporting to my insurance coy? And what can he do for taking down my plate no.? I did took down his car plate no. and thats all...

Thanks in advance!

I think the driver only wants assurance that you will not claim against him. So it is best you report as well but i guess you did not. But if both party is not claiming anything then there is nothing to worry about.

This is what happen to me abt 2yrs ago. I drove a car and on reversing while moving out of a parking lot, tilt down a old looking motorbike(125cc) parked right behind my lot. The owner walk of the kopitiam, lifted up the bike and pointed to me some old scratches on his topbox & tailpipe. Very obviously that the scratches(deep & old stained) wasn't done by that fall but he insisted that I follow him to the bike shop & claim/change a new set to be paid by me. Is a broaddaylight robbery, I refused, and tell him to go ahead to claim insurance. Thinking he just trying his luck and will not report the incident but I was wrong. 2 mths later, a lawyer letter came. Finally, made a police report & IDA report. My car was not damaged or scratches but he claim $1,600plus damages!@#$%^&*(). The claim was finally settled by the insurance company & I quickly sell the car away to escape following year ballooned premium. I was definitely a victim of insurance scam damage claimed. My advice, go make a report and claim and damages. I would do the same if my bike are tilted by another car:cheeky:

Did u even report the case?

Ur insurer is sure dumb to let the claim through if it's truly not dmg by u.

But what proof does he have to claim me? Just by taking down my bike no. is enough??

he can take ur bike number, behind ur back he take down his car pictures etc provided can find damage.

then get a workshop to do 3rd party claim against u. how the claim will be disputed will depend on insurer? will u get inform ? is another loophole? seem no standardize protocol they have to follow( ur bike insurer).

did u exchange contacts? best is to sign a agreement to safeguard each other in this case.

if not same goes u can do the above stuff on the driver.

There is no way you can escape by doing that because the loading on the premium is tagged to the insured, and not on the car.

If the claim is only $1600, you will only lose 10% of the NCD, and no additional loading on your next premium.

ur 2nd quote of "If the claim is only $1600, you will only lose 10% of the NCD, and no additional loading on your next premium." might defer from insurer to insurer that what i think.
