Warning: Summoner at Compasspoint

was on the way home just now,

needed to withdraw some money, so decided to drop by the POSB ATM at the side of Compasspoint (facing the new kopitiam)

I parked on the pavement, went up, drew my cash, then went back to my bike immediately

then I saw this .. dark guy (probably indian) in white top, dark longs, on the opposite site of the road (kopitiam side)

a white .. vespa (?) was beside him.

he was holding a small object which looked like a handphone, pointing towards me, so i guess he was taking photo of me and my bike.

I started my bike, then he walked to the central divider, took a closer look and keyed in something into that dreaded black handheld PDA of death.

so i guess a $70 angbao is on its way to me soon.

these f***ing summoners, i did not even take 3 mins to draw money.

f***ing quota.

Sometimes i feel angry like you. But you must understand its not their fault. They never study since young and are stupid so they have to take up this kind of job. And its the government that created this kind of job.

i think we cant blame them.

its their job. you cant blame people for doing a job they are tasked to do right?

all i can say is, since you decide that its worthwhile to take the risk for convenience seek, then i think you got no one to blame but yourself?

there are many times i kena fine too.. $70 on pavement, $100 on void deck, $25 on season parking lots.. some i think i got reason, i appeal, some i know is my fault, i suck thumb go and pay..

its nt right to scold them for doing their job.

you watched spiderman?

in episode one he let the robber run away because he pity him.

as a responsible citizen, we should help apprehend those who break the law.

so instead of apprehending the robber, mr spidey let him go, in the end, the robber shot his uncle.

isnt it ironic?

and i also dun think we should go around and start name calling.... nv study and stupid is not equal and does not come hand in hand... please be considerate.

if government don't create this kind of job, Singapore's streets and roads would be like that of india, where pple happy happy anyhow drive/ride, anyhow park..

think about it

The reason why they are not as lenient as before is because now all parking summons are privatize and commission based. They don't summon = they eat grass. They summon you = you eat grass.

What you should have done is to walk over to him and politely ask for his name and verify against his name tag, go home loggin to the relevant enforcement agency and appeal against the fine.

Can you ride into Compass point? If you cannot, then it is a very good point to appeal. And be prepared the person in the office may tell you to park at some HDB and walk over even though they won't do it themselves due to the distance.

Sometimes I feel its a little funny thinking about this. Not siding with anyone.

In the first place, is parking on the pavement legal, in Singapore traffic law? Aren't they juz doin their job?

Anyway still can park in Compass point, juz need to pay for entering their premises.

parking on the pavement is illegal, less if its a private property and the owner allow riders to park there. if it's a public place, then is forbidden.

to me nothing wrong with getting fine, like what you said, they are just doing their job, and to me, that sounds logical enough.

Well, if it is a offence to park on the pavement and was caught in the process, frankly I see no point in arguing or pointing out the the educational levels of the people paid to catch offenders.

Bike on pavements or cars on yellow lines. No difference.

If you dont like it when cars park at bike lots, pedestrians also dont like it when bikes park on pavement.
