Hi Guys, I'm contemplating to get either Fazer 8 or XJ-6 Diversion. Wanna go touring with it. Both r really nice. Prices are arnd the same as I've enquired @ bike shops. For Fazer 8, its definitely a bigger cc but the pipe abit bulky. As for XJ-6 Diversion, love the pipe coz its well hidden. Would like anyone's point of view. Greatly appreciated.

PS: Pics of both bikes below.

Have you consider FZ1? I heard the price are almost the same. XJ-6 Diversion are built to budget. Budget sus, steel frame, shitty brake calipers.

If you are spending that kinda of money might as well get the FZ8 or just spend a bit more get the FZ1...My 2 cents

IIRC, XJ6 is about 16-16k OTR. Whereby FZ8 and FZ1 about 19-20k. Apart from shitty components, let's us think of its resale value as well.....

And the amount of performance parts of each bike as XJ6 engine is not really in a high state of tuned compare to the other 2. It boils down to riding enjoyment as well...A unwilling engine doesnt likes to be caned....

IIRC, the FZ6 S1 cost 12-13k otr where it share its budget components with XJ6.

Of course updated S2 seem like a better buy as they finally put on some monoblock calipers.

There shouldn't be any worries, since FZ8 heavily base on FZ1, manufacturer wouldn't have much of problem coming out new products for FZ8.

Yes, comfort is important since you need to travel such a long distance and good fuel consumption (*I seen XJ6 riders mention they can clock somewhere around 20++km/l during break in period, FZ8 might be in the range of 15 ~ 20km/l?). To me agility of the bike and responsive engine would be a plus point.

Actually both machine can set foot on NSHW, just bear in mind what you want and does any of them meet your requirement. Peace!

bike is a machine without soul, rider would inject new life and character to this machine

Is not against bike but it is not priced right.if it is at 12k region I would recommend it. A budget Class 2 that's offered light touring and heavy commuting in city.

If you looked at those 3 bikes carefully, the details and fitting I guess will be much better for FZ series, regardless of engine sizes. It also depend on what speed you like to tour at. Previously with my R6 I cruise at 180-200kph. Now with my Tmax, 120-130kph.

If you have a thirst for speed, then it might not suit you. But if you tour once of twice per year then it is a good choice.

Few years ago I tour and track every month, after getting married, I tour 1-2 times per year....

That is why the choice of bike is so drastic for me...But still is hard to keep up with my R series friends...As long I ca follow is good enough I guess....Just my 2 cents

you have a typo here? compared fz8 and 1, you think 6 have a nicer body...? anyway fz6 have a sharper head fairing compared to fz8 and fz1.. i prefer fz6 but the looks of fz1 and 8 is fine too.. after changing to aftermarket pipes. dun like to look of the pipe..

can i clarify something? among the fazer series.. am i right to say that only fazer 8 is using USD fork while fz1 and fz6 is using normal fork?

you get what i meant dude, you gave yourself 2 options, A (fz1) and B (fz8). you chose C (fz6) when C is not in the options at all.

Couple of months back, I told myself, I'm so gonna get the FZ8. I bought my FZ6 07 at 13800 (excluding insurance). And FZ1 09-10 was priced 19-21k the last time I checked.

So I expect FZ8 should be priced roughly round 16k. Bear in mind FZ1N was priced 18k. When I heard the launch price, 19k....I was like, WTF is wrong with the market now.

Anyway, back to the topic, XJ6 or FZ8. If only have to choose from this 2, go for FZ8. XJ6 is overpriced in the 600cc group.

If budget is an issue, go look at other 600cc. Hornet 600 is sweet, Honda deuvile (no idea how to spell it) and other make.

its my pleasure to share bits n pieces of info, "I'm a rider too" :cheeky:

a decent street fighter would be a good choice for city commuting and occasion touring. I found one, simply enjoy the ride day in day out.

Good analysis :thumb:

both FZ1 and FZ8 are using USD fork w non radial front brake, but not sure if FZ8 fork is fully adjustable? FZ6 using a normal telescopic fork, but it have that "tough" look which I like it alot.

mind ask how come your FZ6 07 price at 13.8k? Is it brand new FZ6S model?

Now I think again which 600 street fighter is the cheapest in our market? Meantime I can only think of FZ6.

Thx alot to everyone for their opinions n points of view. Nw when i tink again, xj6 does rather cost quite high comparing to fz. Hmm need to do alot of think but like wat chopstick said the price of fz8 is almost the same or even equivalent to fz1 . If that really is the case would rather get a fz1 :) i've enquired xj6 for 2 shops. One quoted me 13.5k machine. The other quoted me 16.5k exclude insurance. That me kinda think of getting a fz6 s2. Bw much is the pricing roughly? Thx

fz6s2 2nd hand ranges from 9k+ to probably about 11k+? from what i see on sale..
