hammie normally which shop u go to service ur viffeR?

I have never been to any shop to service my viffer in my 40+k mileage within 1.5 years of ownership, except during run-in period. After see-ing the way they pour EO, thats the reason why I never went to shops. Always overfill, make me buy extra bottle for nothing, and dirty my whole airbox + filter

Oh yah....Only went to unity to change tire... wanted to share $$ buy the tire changing machine..then again.. mnah, bo hua..

PS : Sorry... forgot to change log-in account...

Thank You.

Either after each EO (my panniers), or consolidated numerous EO change in 1 big gigantic container (use car). A bit "lecheh", but more environmental friendly.

Yes, but only for earlier batch of 02-03 Vtecs.

There is a coil recall for them too.

I think problem is fixed from late 03 onwards.

You can actually check the FI status by shortening a fuse or circuit.

Sometimes it could be just a loose connection.

Arrow's not legal.

I'm considering the Micron for my 5th gen VFR.

Anyone here using it? I would like to hear the sound and get some feedback from you.

I have a Micron on my 5th Gen. I'm not sure if it sounds good or not cos I have not heard any other stock or after market pipes yet.

But frankly, a non-legal pipe sounds better than a legal aftermarket one, no matter what. You trade your stock pipe with mine?

Organise an outing so I can show you! Heh heh...

Hi Guys

My Viffer's due to get her servicing done soon. (New Timing Chain, New Shims,Valve clearance etc, maybe a high com gasket (If available).

Question is where's a good place to do this. I've encountered many bike shops who don't even know how many cylinders this baby's got. Somehow I don't wanna be the centrepoint of their learning curve.

I read some recommendations somewhere in the previous 62 pages before but can't seem to find it anymore. Not very good with this forum thingy.

It'll be great if we could considilate a list of guys who have done their servicing with information like the location, estimated pricing etc.

Thanks everyone.

I am a loyal follower of Alex at Stamford Motor, 5th level AMK auto point (ind park 2). He is one of the most experienced mechenics I can think of. Cos he is a bit old, he is not fast! He is well known for servicing BMW and VFR's, trained by Honda Japan if I am not wrong. Alex no 64832198

I did valve clearance recently, $380. Still need to change tensioners but he ordered them for me already.

What are you riding and what is your mileage? Mine is 105K already and so far not much to replace.

Another mech is Meng Tong at Looi's but if you did not buy your bike from them and have no connections they might not entertain you.

My mileage currently stands at 75k (02 VFR). Intending to do the servicing once it hits 80k. I did went over to Stamford last Friday to check him out. Reached there at ard 12:30 but he wasn't open. What's his operating hours?

I tried checking with his neighbours on what time he opens but got some nasty comments from them :giddy:

How much would the whole package cost on average? I'm talking about valve, tensioners, shims + injector service.

Thanks.

Edit: Another quick question. This may sound dumb but I'll still ask :giddy:

Can we change the Vtec transition zone? Even if slightly.

My gang normaly tour on average speeds of 170km/h. It gets irritating going in and out of the Vtec zone. Kinda like riding a horse. :giddy:

if you intend to let him service your bike, be prepare to leave it there for weeks and he only need to use 1-2 days to tune the bike. Just curious what comments did they have for him. :cheeky:

It's a one-man show so he closes sometimes when he travels for biz to Europe. Just give him a call at the number I stated above.

Well, I have only good things to day about Alex. The way it works is I change oil there and a oil change is $124 (oil filter $24 + 4 bottles of castrol syntec). He makes a lot of money of this. It is premium oil and works well on my bike but I also get great service when I need to replace other parts and quite fast too if you are a regular customer. My handling has improved signinficantly after he changed the steering bearings. He has a lot of amazing stuff in his little shop. I dare to say my bike is one of the best running bikes on the road. nothing but good reviews from friends that rode my bike :thumb:

Well they told me that he opens as and when he wishes and told me not to wait for him. You know that "He's rich and he opens as and when he wants" thingy.

That's after I waited for around half an hour and decided to ask his neighbours.

Well jealously is a sad thing. Can't blame them as well. I'll just drop him a ring before I head down in future.
