Hi guys

I changed my EO 2 days ago and the drained EO filled about 11/12 of the bottle.

Yesterday morning, when i start my bike, its difficult to start. It has been like this for the past few weeks and i just ignored it as i was always late. Just ride and go. When my bike start, engine die in about 5 or 10 secs.

When i rev my engine, i can see water and carbon coming out from the exhaust when i put a white paper or cloth neat the exhaust hole. It looks like specs of carbon and water. It smells like, well, carbon.

The exhaust gas is NOT BLUE and doesnt have any colour at all. Just that the first few cranks can see like "STEAM" for a few seconds.

Once my bike is warmed up, there are no problems when starting it. Only that every morning, got this problem, even though its at 11am. If i ride this morning, and come back afternoon, at night still can start easily.

Bro tonychan says that its water in my engine, but question is, how did it get there? I know it has been raining for the past few weeks and perhaps condensation in my engine?

Air filter is clean, EO is fresh and spark plug is new.

Any ideas?

Flood, then water go into exhaust?

Haha. No.

The past few weeks, i've been riding in the rain for at least 45 mins. Hmm... No floods or what so ever.

Can i check with you... is your bike water cooled or air cooled?

Because some cases of the gasket is burn and water enter the combustion chamber..

My bike is air-cooled and the air filter is clean and dry.

And guess what? I just turned it on today. It starts on the first press of the electric start! No water or visible carbon coming out from the exhaust. First time in 3 weeks haha!

What i did was when i changed my EO, it was a fully synthetic EO and pumped in V-power. But the next day, the same thing happened. So when i reached school yesterday, i just revved my engine near the red line for a few seconds and did it a few more times.

And hey presto, no more water and carbon today! I need to check my bike for a few more days and give you guys an update. :D

Maybe it's like what ezzyoiler said, some water got into the tank, but now that the water and petrol mix is used up, no more water comes out from the exhaust liao!

Motorcyclist are the nicest people on the road, try not to kill us.

Water and petrol doesn't mix right? So if there is water in my tank, it would just be sitting below my petrol?

A thought would be condensation forming in the cold metal parts of the exhaust system during the morning. The water stays in till the exhaust pressure forces everything out.

That would explain the carbon being shot out the back too.

Engine should be fine - the oil takes care of the moisture and protects the parts (yes, that's why oil should be changed for bikes sitting around for a long time). Plus any minimal condensation within the combustion chamber would not survive the first few cranks.

Small amounts of water won't kill an engine - which is why there is such thing as water injection :3
