i see other countries got people use 120\60-17 sized tyres. but they convert front rims to another bike's (not sure which) apparently makes the handling less divey and cheaper changes in long run.

but no rim conversion im not sure if can. i think undersized your rim will not be able to hold the profile and contour of the tyre the way its designed to be, so the contact patch may be affected and become potentially dangerous? especially the front give way i think no way to save or react against.

but i not sure la haha.

anyway link to uniques single tyre price list.

single tyre replacement price list

they list the hornet 250 stock sizing for e front with michelin pilot sport @ $170.

Ehrrrr.... any hornet riders .... experience riders.... riders with 'good lobang' ... on tyres???

Well, i guessed the hornet site is 'dying'... liao...

As compare to 4-5years ago, ... it was the most active and informative site when comes to responding to query.... what happened here....???

(Perhaps... need to sell off my HORNET 250 before the group disappeared!)

What is the current market value of the HORNET 250 FX Plate? anyone?

Road tax and insurance just renewed and expired on Sep 2010.

Bikes in very good condition, I am looking at good price since i will need the money to get a replacement bike. Probably... a one year old used bike... (have not decide what make or model yet, but, definitely not more than 400cc.)

I have no hurry to sell my 250 HORNET... it's a great bike with zero problems since i own it... so, i will only sell the bike once i find a replacement.

So, if you are familiar with the HORNET resale price... kind share with me your recommended market price. Thanks...!

Cheers!:cheer:

Beating a Honda is like banging a fat chick. Everyone can do it but who wants to brag about it....

WELCOME TO THE DARKSIDE!!!

Well,

The maintenance is pretty decent if you dont' really 'pushed' it to it's limit.

FC is about 20.5km/ltr only... provided that u ride the way i rode it... ie, always the very first bike from the traffic and engine braking during corners..

The insurance is from NTUC and cost about $230/yr... with 20%NCB. Tyres is so far costly due to the tyre size if you had compare it with all the others 250cc bike...

it's running originally at 130/70 16 (front) tyre and similar to that of the HONDA CB900.

so.. comparatively.... it's consider abit...'kiasu' with that tyre size.

I am consdering having my front tyre changed to a SHINKO tyre... as i think there is a shop selling and marketing the tyre which is much cheaper as compare to the rest of the brand like... MICHELIN, DUNLOP, BRIDGESTONE...etc..

at least about $40 cheaper... if my researched done from the internet is telling the truth..

If u are wondering my personal opinions with the HONDA HORNET 250 bike, i can say that the bike is really one of the most responsive bike which i have ever ride... the braking system is very stable and highly dependable...

I will definitely reconsider whether to sell the bike if the price is not up to expectation... S$5k+++ is not good enough..

I have been waiting to see if the new 250cc HORNET is available in Singapore... I saw the new version which is really 'good looking' .. but, may also look at the INDIA make HONDA 150cc/250cc if also coming to Singapore market...!

From internet review, the 150cc has a pretty good FC and the built looks sweet and neat.

That's all i can share for now...

Cheers!

any brothers here got ani box rack to sell or which shop selling? roughly how much for a new one? btw it's 4 hornet 250..anione???? :D

Well,

I got my rack about 5yrs back at AH BOY'S and till now it's still in very good condition.

I think it cost about S$180 for the rack alone...! However, the labour cost is not charged .. perhaps had already included in fixing up the rack ..!

Avoid putting up a CHEAP rack for your box as the vibration may caused the rack to 'self loosened' and the agility of the bike may not be as good as those expensive ones (like the one that i have).

I have also put up a GIVI box... not too big.. just good enough for a pair of raincoat and a helmet...

So bro, i would suggest that before you decide on the type of racks that you want, you may take a look at the racks for those on the SUPERFOUR.. (since these bikes are pretty common in Singapore). The reason is that, those better designed racks used on the Superfour which contours around the body of the S4 is similar to that of the HORNET and that's how i got my rack. The rack is a single piece rack and it does not need to be joined or connected with several pieces in order to fixed it closed to the body of the bike.

For the past 4-5yrs after mounted the rack onto my bike, the rack is still in very secure holding position and without any loosed screws seen.

Remember not to mount a BIG box after puttng up the rack or your bike stability will be compromised and the looks will look 'weird' since it is a Sport bike.

Hope that my own experience in this area does contribute some good advice.

Cheers!

Well,

It may be true that the HORNET riders are pretty limited in Singapore nowadays...

If HORNET had built the 350cc or 400cc bike, i am very sure that the SUPERFOUR riders will switched to HORNET instead.

Anyway, the new 250cc is already designed and built in Japan but, i guessed even though it may hit Singapore with this new model, I don't think it will attract much attention nor crowd due to the pricing of the bike... (most riders still go for 400cc if compare to a 250cc bike)

Bro, glad to know that you are still alive and kicking after a pretty bad crashed. But, hey,... "NO BUANG NO RIDER... NO CRASHED NO BIKER... BIKER RIDES ON FOREVER"

single cylinder 250cc.

doubt its a true hornet 250 replacement, looks pretty communterish with some fairings slapped on to emulate the new hornet6

Wow,

Glad to see more repsonse on the HORNET's forum now.

Yeah 'Nuad', i thought that the link which u sent is the new 2009 Hornet 250cc. I didn't know that's the TWISTER... as i dont' find it resemble any of the twister which i have seen so far.

Anyway, thanks for the feedback and infor .... cheers!

If TWISTER had incorporated a new design and the bike is selling much cheaper as compare to the HORNET 250, it's still worth considering .... as the spare parts for this particular bike is much more justifiable... (i believed)

I just hope that Honda will come out with a smaller version of the Hornet (eg. 250/400). It is going to be really exciting to see that HORNET ROAMING the road .... afterall, I am a Superfour fan too,... but, when comparing between both bikes according to my appreciation... HORNET is still the better choice when it comes to the design.

I just hope that the bike will not cease production as well as the riders out there in Singapore rides on... if not, all Hornet riders will gives up their lovely iron horse due to the cost of spare parts etc..

Cheers!

hi fellow H250 riders,

the discussion on tyre replacement is good, so we can share the info.

ive been monitoring on and off suitable tyre replacements for both front and rear and narrowed it down to the BT014. Last i checked Front and rear bt014will cost $410. expensive i would say, but it would be more durable in the long term.

Cheaper one would be Pilot sport, about $355 a set. Im due to replace my bt010 tyres (yes, they are that old) and while they can still last a bit more, its almost time new rubber is brought in.

oh BT010? how would you rate them in wet, dry, cornering and wear? and how much did you get them for?

i also would like to gain info about various tyres that have avaliable sizing for our front.

so far as i know of.

1)BT014

2)Pilot Sport

3)sportec M1

4)BT 010

wow.. 410 for a pair of bt014 eh.. i rem last time when i got them for my hornet in 2005 it was 350..

from wat i see tire manufacturers stil produce 130 16in fronts but the main prob is whether bikeshops stock them anot.. and even if they got it be sure to check when the tire was made.. it might be too old..

Yah boy,

Tyre price had gone up pretty fast. Partially could be due to the Japanese yen.. heehee.

It does seems like the HORNET 250 front and rear tyre is abit 'oversize' ... of course, with that kind of tyres, taking agressive corners could be a plus point .... but,... it doesn't mean that it won't 'buang'.... (check out in you tube and u will know what i mean)

By the way, has anyone try out the SHINCO or the IRC tyres before?

Please give your experience opinions and advise.... thanks!

Cheers!

BT010 no longer in stock, has been replaced by BT014. BT014 is the improved version of 010.

i think there's BT012SS, also replacement for BT010 as the top end street/sport tires.

i find BT010 very durable, been using since it came with the bike when i got it in june last year. ex owner has been using it for some time but not on a daily basis. no complaints using in both wet and dry conditions, since Z rated tyres are known for high speed stability and cornering grip.

Choosing tyres is very much a personal choice. i prefer to stick to bridgestone since H250 came with stock BT010.

there is also BT020 but some shops may not have size for front bt020. one ex H250 owner told me BT020 on the back will allow you to go much lower in corners. i read sumwhere BT020 is a touring tyre for great mileage, maybe someone who used before can comment?

i think one ex H250 tried pilot sport or sportec before. feedback was tyres didnt last long, but it may depend on what sort of a rider are you.

wayang is rite, tyre stock is a concern. better to check manufacturing date on the tyre wall, dun get old tyre.

guys.. i brought my hornet to the track on BT-014s b4.. they provide pretty solid grip.. i was scrapping footpegs left and right.. quite scary n shiok at the same time..
