perhaps you can try checking your battery voltage reading?

Check if there's moist on the spark plug or loose wiring?

Check for loose wiring.

Check if rectifier fail to charge up the battery.

Check for insufficient fuel.

Check for faulty starter switch/burnt starter relay fuse.

bro when i start the engine, i only can hear my engine producing a 'dragging' sound.

try the easiest stuff first, check the wiring, switch and fuse.

Awww.... Too bad its an autobike haha. If manual, can try to push start.

Anyway, if you have jumper cables, you can google on how to jumpstart your bike.

glad you found your problem, just to ask does a slope helps for automatic transmission bike?

most bike comes with maintenance free dry cell, which can last minimum a yr till now I has yet come across bike equip with wet cells. But I find them more environmental friendly.

dun think a slope will help. auto clutch engages with engine rpm speed, not the rpm of the rear wheels. so unless you can get ur engine to turn at a certain rpm, the clutch will not engage.

05 VXR 200 supposed to be using Fiam wet cell batt as stock batt. But after so many years already.

Likely owner would have change to MF batts.

I would sugguest grab a new batt when U are free. Ah boy shop close pretty late.

Also invest in a good batt charger and voltmeter.

Try to have a habit of checking batt voltage once every 3 weeks.

TS do take note, at times its not the fault of battery but the charger... so do check on the charger as well. :cheeky:

will the same thing happen again? cos sometime i will not touch my bike for few days cos of duty. i afraid tht after few days cannot start bike again. die. then my bike will be left there. so normally how many mins of ride can charge up the battery to how many days?

We really cannot help you bro. Because if got kick starter, can kick. If manual, can push start. If auto, i really dunno how sia.

Think like what I mentioned earlier get new batts from ah boy, ctek charger from limbatt and a volt meter.

Ah boy batt is ok and cheap. U may not be getting jap yuasa, but at 60 bucks, there's nothing to complain.

Limbatt is bringing in Ctek charger. Just get the basic smart charger is enough.

Although u can get vanson 25+ charger. But the vanson ones is not auto off when full. So for the peace of mind. I would prefers a smart charger

Voltmeter. Think I won't ask u to buy sanwa. They are good but not really cheap. I bought my basic sanwa digital multimeter at 80 buck in sim lim. But if u just want to check voltage. This any cheap and accurate ones will do.

This will be useful diy instructions if u want to know want is really happening to ur bike.

Buy batt. If you want hassle free, get maintenance free type. But they last not as long as traditional wet cell.

To prep the MF batt. U have to put the acid in urself. Don't worry, all new batts have some instruction sheets to follow.

Now, the crucial thing to follow. After the acid is in, pelase don't seal up the batt yet. Just cover with something like a box or anything. This is to prevent foriegn object from falling into the cell. Wait for 1 hr before closing the/sealing the batt. The closing/sealing part can be a pain in the ass. U might want to hammer the sealing strip to get it fully in. Please use ur fist or some soft but firm object. U would not want to over hammer and crack the batt case. For me I use my fist. Please handle acid carefully as they are corrosive.

After the batt is sealed. Charge it up. I use a ctek charge because it's hassle free. It will show green when fully charge. Even if u left it on after fully charge. It will not damage the batt.

This is for the batt prep.

Next is diagnostics.

Use a volt meter. check ur old batt. A 12V batt is actually 13V in reading.

12~12.2volt is low. 12.2~12.6 is med. and 12.8~13 is actually fully charge. (there's actually lots more to batts but use this as beginner's guide first.)

IF the old batt 12V and below, it's deeply sulfurated. A long charge may bring it back to life. But If I were u, I will junk it to pevent any more inconvenience in the future.

Next, Bike's charging circuit test.

The bike stator coil usually generates around 13.5V with headlights off and 13V with headlights on. This is during idle. Anything lower than 12.8v means there might be problems with ur stator coil. That means it have to be replaced. (U can leave it alone, but that means ur batt won't be charged up)

Next test, rectifier health. The test can be abit hard to do and could be heart pain. But no need to worry as u are not doing it often.

Rev the bike to 4000+rpm on mainstand. Beware, the torque from the spinning wheel is strong enough to push ur bike backwards. so make sure u support the bike tight or get another friend to help u. To support, stantion urself at the left side of ur vxr. Place ur feet behind the main stand to prevent it from dismounting. Both hand grip the handlebar tight. Rev the bike to 4000rpm. At 4000rpm, the voltage should not go above 14.5v. higher than 15.5V means that ur rectifier is shot. U will need to replace.

In summary. The test will let u identify what is the cause.

Batt below 12V means the batt is sulfurated. U can still condition it up. But I think it will last 6 months at best.

Stator coil failing. Result in not charging ur batt fully. Not healthy for batt. will shorten the life span of ur batt. MF batt life usually is 2 max. after that it will start to show problem.

Recitifier failing. This one is deadly. It can kill a healthy brand new batts in just days of riding.

Also, if left un attended. It might fry ur starter motor.

My last experience with charging ciruit is not nice.

My batt was failing. I just leave it alone. When total flat, I just plug in to a batt charger to charge it up. The smart charger can also indicate the battery health.

A failing batt will not charge to the required min 12.8v. Even if u leave the charger on for days.

If the batt is not fully charged, Ur bike charging circuitry will be on all the time and in time to come, wear out ur rectifier.

When the rectifier is gone, It actually fried my new batt, stator coil and starter motor.

It is useful to install a voltmeter on ur bike.

It's easy to read. Just remembler the readings is no lower than 12.2v when engine is not started. No less than 13v when engine is idling. And no more than 15.5v at any rev.

Hope this is helpful
