i use wd-40 spray into the hole with the straw. and it works wonder for 2weeks.

Just spray, wont kill anything unless u attempt to soak the whole keyhole with it..

 

Try to make it a habit to adjust the metal cover everytime..You'll nv know some itchy hand with a toothpick in hand who decides to just stick it in and break it..
