If you gut out the catalytic converter (which treats the exhaust before it leaves the bike and removes a lot of the pollution), wrap up your pipe with heat insulator and use coolant such as Maxima Cool-Aide, Water Wetter or Engine Ice, the heat problem should be reduced. However, gutting out your cat converter is an illegal modification and therefore not approved...

thanks for your help.

"wrap up your pipe with heat insulator "

how to get this done ??

how it look like ??

will there be still too much heat to the rear sup.

cause i hear from people in forum saying that the cat will give alot of heat the rear sup...

is this correct ??

and after putting the heat insulater will it help in this ??

and any idea how much is it ?

how do i know whether is the cat remove or mod before ??

y-pipe and mid pipe is the same.

removing the catalyst will cool down the bike by a little bit.

change y-pipe if u gonna change exhaust

remove catalyst if you gonna use stock exhaust

remove catalyst at sanfu around $40 only. change akrapovic y-pipe i think is 295.

change to a better engine coolant for less heat

what to change? change your brake hose? wind shield? buy slider? change the balancer? balancer stock is black in colour and its lighter, thus more vibration.

hi friend,

"remove catalyst if you gonna use stock exhaust"

remove catalyst mean change the catalyst mid pipe or just remove the metal inside the catalyst pipe

anyway to know whether the first owner remove already ??

remove catalyst at sanfu around $40 only

where is sanfu ??

changing to akrapovic y-pipe mean the big catalyst will be remove right ??

can get this approve ??

Hi Ones_Co, with regards to ur current heat issues, from my experience, even after doing all the changes stated, the heat will still be there. The reduction in heat will be minimal even after changing y-pipe, therefore since u decided to get 04-06 model, the best thing u can do is to get used to the heat

From what I know, removing of catalyst from our y-pipe is a very GREY issue. Most bikeshops will tell u it's legal, while it looks like tampering of exhaust system if u ask me..

I would advise not to remove the catalyst since there's nil benefits from doing. If the concern is on heat and performance, I'm afraid the end result will not be of any significantly different. You just have to get used to the heat

FYI, I did remove my catalyst, travelling from NTU to kallang KFC @ 10pm+ in bermudas, ask ard those who had seen my half "sunburn" + 10% cooked shin. You'll just have to get use to the heat...Now I juz realise my tolerance level for heat "UP-ed" level liao...
