Keep a decent transport bike and get a transport car made in Jap if possible, that is you really need the car. Else scrap the idea unless you're loaded.

Thanks for all the suggestions people! Guess I better scap the idea or owning an Evo! Some of my friends (who also earn 2K plus) are driving EG6s. Is it a good car for commuting and some occasional track use? Or is it better to save up a bit longer to get the newer Integra? What is the maintenance and fuel consumption like for both the EG6 and the Integra? I guess it would be significantly lesser than an Evo or WRX as they are non-turbo charged cars.

Thanks peeps! :)

You are one helluva joker, if you had comprehended any of the posts, you would scrap the idea of owning a car altogether.

Some people will struggle to even maintain eg6,ek9 and integra. Depends on how the car was taken care of. Set aside a couple of thousands after making payment for the car so that you can pull it out to use if the car needs to enter the garage for servicing, not modifications.

Haha you really want a car that badly eh? Buy a Honda Civic ESI 4M now, can get under 15k. Then drive 1-2 years, prepared another few k for COE in that time.

Ever got the feeling when you bike got one big problem and need a massive dose of cash? Yeap imagine that for your car X 4 times.

Ultimately its your money, but say first ar, we say the not so pleasant stuff first, we told you so.

"Wolves and sheep will live together in peace, and leopards will lie down with young goats, calves and lion cubs will feed together, and little children will take care of them. Cows and bears will eat together, and their calves and cubs will lie down in peace." Isaiah 11:6-8

i don't know if u have read all the replies? ok, maybe we didn't get u rite. mind sharing with us how r u going to cut ur $2,000 mthly pie? mayb u r ready to set aside >$1,500 mthly thus u r so sure of owning a Evo / Civic for occasional track :thumb:

oh, if u going for older cars, yes it maybe cheap to 'OWN' but to 'Up Keep' it be prepare for radiator leak ($350~$800), belt change (~$300), rotor change ($1,200), brake pads ($300), tires ($500~$1000), wiring problem, engine cam spring, spocket break, engine oil leak, gasket leak, compressor problem, seats need to re-wrap, window motor spoil, body rust, paint job, shorter interval for svc, higher road tax, car park, ect. ect...

btw just for ur infor, 1 weekend out in the track will cost >$1,200

- a set of reasonable good tire ~$1000

- track fee, petrol, makan, hang out with kakis, tow fee, ect >$200

figure will ballon if u damage ur ride in track...so good luck

*i earn few time more than $2k / mth yet i don't even dare go near a Evo

Learn how to live comfortably and not under the daily worry that whats yours will be repossesed. WOrk your budget, get a car that you can pay for and live with even if its not your dream ride. If its your first ride, good to learn by buying a 2nd hand toyota or honda that saves petrol and reliable at the same time. Else you can go first hand for the same 2 brands. Don't worry about high cost or capital initially, buy high, sell high. Same theory as bikes. One thing you have to take note is the COE of car which bike owners don't have to bother because scrap value doesn't cross people's mind like cars'.

Maybe OPC lah hor? But still I have to agree lah its a bit dangerous to have a car with that kind of pay. Minus these minus that....

if you always dream of getting a sports car in your dreams, go buy 1.

your sweet dreams may be gone very soon, nightmare 1 after another.

maybe you've got lots of savings in bank, we dont know. anyway, now cars are

very expensive, not worth buying just for fun. 2years back maybe...

when i got my car, coe only $7k+.. now is same value as my car...

But having said that when i got my zx12r i was still a student at 23 yrs old. I really scrimped and saved just for the bike and boy there was no regrets for the smile it put on my face. But having said that now a married man priorities are diff...... So wats your priority ?

Beating a Honda is like banging a fat chick. Everyone can do it but who wants to brag about it....

WELCOME TO THE DARKSIDE!!!

Yes it's very different when you are in early 20s with no care and commitment compared to mid 30s with family and commitments.

erm, i dont really understand your question. ok, i got myself a opc car @ that time as my wife & i always travel to malaysia during weekends. riding is rather unsafe when travel there in late hrs. a opc car cos i dont drive but ride to work. & @ that time coe drops till so low, i felt thats the best time to get 1. stick on to my old 2a bike cos of commitments. of cos if its just for family trips, i dont think an EVO 9 is needed.
