Honda’s automatic bike

Honda has launched a fully automatic concept bike at the Tokyo motorcycle show, which it promises will make it to full production.

The DN-01 concept is a sports-tourer based around the Deauville v-twin 680cc engine, but Honda has taken out the standard motorbike gearbox and inserted a scooter-style continuously variable automatic system.

The rider will be able to choose between two different automatic modes - presumably one for sport and one for normal riding – and a fully manual option so the rider can choose when to change gear via the bar mounted buttons.

Although currently a concept Honda has said that it aims to put the bike on sale in the near future.

Thats it.... they've finally done it.... a LazyBoy on wheels.... :giddy:

Vision Protection System (VPS)

The new and exclusive Vision Protection System (VPS) is a LEXAN® OQ moulded, antiscratch-treated sunscreen positioned on the outside of the visior. Using it is very simple and practical: just pull it down or up to activate/exclude it from the field of vision. Useful in all sorts of situations, whether it's on long journeys out of town, or shorter trips about town. The innovative rotating mechanism - synchronized with the opening of the visor - ensures perfect functioning in all riding conditions. The VPS is easy to remove when it is no needed, or for normal maintenance and cleaning operations.

BMW replace Rallye suit

The new BMW Rallye 2 Pro suit will be shown at the International Motorcycle Show in Birmingham later this month, and will replace the 2005 Rallye 2 textile suit.

The firms claims it will be the first suit to offer enhanced joint protection due to new BMW-CE armour. The suit also features new colour schemes, with Blue/Grey or Black/Grey. It also has a Gore-Tex inner membrane, and a ventilation system for both hot and cold conditions.

Also being launched at the show are the 2006 Enduro and Pro Sport Integral helmets, Rallye GS2 boots, ProTouring boots, Boulder jackets and City trousers. The BMW stand is number T283, in Hall 18. The show runs from Saturday, October 29-Sunday November 6, 2005, with a preview day on Friday October 28.

Owning a BMW bike ain't complete without a matching phone, Bang & Olufsen / Samsung Serene

http://www.mobilegazette.com/images/other/b-and-o-serene-2.jpghttp://www.mobilegazette.com/images/other/b-and-o-serene-1.jpg

The Bang and Olufsen Serene is an amazing looking device designed by B&O in conjunction with Samsung, and packing in a number of very innovative features. But exactly how much substance is there behind the style?

European Hillclimbing Championship, Obersaxen (CH)

Hillclimbing - the steeper the better! The aim is ride up an extremely steep, almost invincible hill on a motorbike. Whoever "climbs" highest wins.

To everyone´s surprise Christian Pfeiffer rode to a place on the podium on the BMW HP2 Enduro in Obersaxen (CH) at the European Hillclimbing Championship. It was probably the first BMW which ever took part in a hillclimbing event where normally light and powerful single cylinder bikes with about 500 cc are ridden in the cross enduro class.

After Pfeiffer had successfully completed more "normal" Enduro races over the past weeks, the extremist rider thought up the extraordinary plan of taking part in the European Hillclimbing Championship. His reasoning: "The bike´s tremendous traction had always impressed me. Output is of course also very important and there´s proabably been nothing more powerful than the HP2 with 105 bhp in the offroad sector!" So he said to himself: just do it. And the HP2 really showed what an outstanding hillclimber it is.
