Dear JianXiong,

We refer to your feedback dated 10/5/05.

You may like to know that constant routine checks are conducted by the guards at regular intervals, whereby students parking their motorcycles at the visitor lots are spotted. Students found parking the motorcycles at the visitor's lots are usually advised by the guards to remove their motorcycles from the area. The guards will proceed to chain the motorcycles for students who continue to park their vehicles at the same area and for motorcycles which have been spotted to belong to students previously.

As for the staff parking lots, our staff may opt to park at any of the available lots.

The issue on the low tree branches has been noted. We will arrange for the necessary pruning. This is periodically done at regular intervals.

Thank you

John Soh

What puzzle me is that, how does the guard defines illegal parking? If the bikes are parked outside the lot, I would have chained them as well. 2nd, how does the guard knows that the motorcycles belong to the students and service providers and not visitors?

Since I am in the topic of carparks, I find it quite funny to find that the staff lots are usually fully parked at carpark 8 (just outside Blk B) and find the rest of the staff lots (just outside Blk D) rather empty.

Another matter which I would like to bring attention to you is that the tree branches near the entrance of the the motorcycle lots at Ave 8 is rather low. Perhaps you can do something about this.

Dear JianXiong,

Thank you for your feedback.

We wish to inform you that the guard on patrol had chained all illegal

parked motorcycles when he arrived at Carpark 8 this morning at about

10am. A total of 6 motorcycles were chained. Subsequently the guard left

the site. The owner of FQ407A parked his motorcycle at Carpark 8 after the

guard had left. The guard was not aware of this as he was patrolling other

areas at this point of time. The guard would have responded the same way

if he had found the motorcycle FQ407A parked at Carpark 8 during his

inspection.

All students and service providers have been informed to park their

motorcycles at the designated Avenue 8 motorcycle parking lots. This

information is also available in the Student Handbook. Please note that

Carpark 8 motorcycle parking lots are reserved for visitors use.

We look forward to your understanding and cooperation to park your

motorcycle at designated motorcycle parking lots at Avenue 8 in future.

Thank you

John Soh

Why? Why motorcycles at carpark 8 (SBM carpark) are chained with no

reasons given. Bike No FQ 407A is not chained instead? Why?

i believe visitors dun come everyday.. so if they see the same bikes during each and every of their patrol, den i guess they can only believe that the bikes belongs to students..

as for cars, there are "white" lots at the auditorium carpark there...

i was chained b4 at the school motorcycle parking lots.. i park near the kerb side not in the parking slot as it was full already.. many bikes do the same thing as mi.. but i was chained.. at the sch motor carpark... damm fed up.. went to the estate management room at blk A.. then ask for some one to tell mi wat to do but all the staff was like ignoring my present.. then mi got du lan liao.. voice loud abit to ask who can attend to mi now.. then got one staff ask mi to seat and wait for awhile.. then waited for 10min plus then got one staff told mi go to the FCC room to look for the security head.. then when there knock at the door.. waited for another 10 min then someone open the door.. ask them to unlock my bike then he ask for my admin card and etc.. then he ask mi whether i noe y i was chained.. i told him dat i did not park in the lots.. then he say yup.. but then i told him the carpark was full and i have no place to park!! and used to have lots of parking availabe.. but dun noe wat the fcuk they go put those brick to enclose the area then the parking lots become limited.. then he told mi that it will be remove in a weeks time.. but till now,on wat i noe.. it still not removed yet.. it has been more than 5mths ago liao le..and it took mi 30-40 mins jus to let them unchain my bike.. wasted my time.. end sch at 6pm.. in e end got to wait till 6.40+ then can go home.. knn.. WTF are the school thinking abt.. dun allow us to park near our BLk then motor carpark make till have very little space onli.. expect student all to drive or take public onli.. kns..

use to be from NYP but has graduated last yr!~... used to get my bike chain once every wk, haha, was jus too lazy to walk the extra distance... jus give them crap reasons, they will not fine u... reasons that i gave before, bike breakdown waiting for tow truck, stomache, act that i m a outsider seeking info on the school diff courses so dunno where to park, and too many to name!... they always say, next time u will be fine $50 before they will unchain ur bike... all bull sh*t!~... but then again, if we jus park in the student parking lots then nothing will happen... jus lazy, like me!~
