Sorry guys I'm not a Vara owner, but I'm pretty curious how does your 125 and 1k bikes do when cruising. How many RPM at lets say 90km/h ? And whats the red line for the RPM? thanks for the info!

I see, appreciate the info thatnks. Just to share, for my NX400 its

4kRPM @70km/h

Redline at 8kRPM

thanks for satisfying my curiosity :)

i sometimes wonder is it bec the CC is smaller, thats why RPM is higher..

anyways MX400.. no wonder it sounds so familiar, thats the honda Falcon right? ...

http://www.motorsvivos.com.br/dicas/tiposmoto/hondafalconNX400.jpg

hows the bike? so far so good? any issues? someone was selling it, some time back, had urge to get it, but good ting i do not have my 2A...

Posted

Yea, thats the Falcon :). I bought the bike from the seller who advertised in SBF. The bike is pretty good, looks a little like a Vara125. But being an air-cooled thumper it cant revv too high. Crusing at 90-100 (5.1kRPM) is comfy, but I would prefer if the RPM were lower.

--------------------

To answer your question, this is my speculation - it appears that smaller cc bikes are made to rev higher. Bigger cc bikes with higher displacement have more torque hence dun need the high rev to bring the bike to the desired motion. Big engines can rev high too I suppose, but since its rather unnecessary probably the other components are not made to handle high RPMs and high vibes, etc ...

--------------------

Thats when the interesting bit came about. I was looking ard for rear sprockets to improve my top-end. After checking with Chong Aik, FJT and Eversuccess, only Chong Aik managed to get me a 42 teeth sprocket for the NX400. There were no other sprockets available.

Other than that, no complaints at all. Everything on the bike werks perfectly :). The power diff from an XR4 is evident though. Arises from the different carb, exhaust system, and airbox. Fitted a WingRack, may get a saddlebag or sideboxes soon, hopefully can join you guys for a trip or 2 :).

What speeds to you guys cruise at when you travel long d, to KL for example?

Ehh would be cool, if you could join us, for our meet up,

i saw the falcon, on the road once, its like its dad was a scrambler, but the mum was a super 4..

Very cross-breed with the spirit of scrambler..

anyways what i heard about falcon, was that parts are hard to find? is this true? in terms of maintanence? i gues stuff like sparkplugs, oil.. etc..are the same, but brake pads, do u have to only get the original honda parts? like us v125, have too... even our air filter, seem like we need the orig Honda Parts..

(many prev post ago.. someone said, falcon, had some problems, i seriously doubt it.. but since ur riding it, any issues so far... cos... i do quite like falcon, i think its a much better option then Transalp 400 (as i heard lots of issues.. as its an old bike) but of course.. but the thing about falcon, its too few on the road, (like when i initially got my vara125) 2 yrs back.. cant find any 'members' when then n sbf, there were 2-3 ppl who had vara125... but that could b e a good thing too.. u have a damm unique bike... ;)

anyways, when we were riding to kl, most of the time..its 100km/h.. with the occasional 115km/h

So what the Max speed of falcon ( i remember the speedo max at 140km) if i remember correctly..

and whats the milage (how many KM per liter)?

Posted

So far havent heard of any bikes than need OEM brakepads. Even my KTM last time wasnt so fussy :)

Max speed is 140. Guess if i can tweak the gearings it wld be better. Consumption abt the same as an XR4. 21km/litre

Just curious, how many Vara members do u have now?

this is an interesting point...

so far , when i went to 2 bike shop, they cant seem to find the proper brakes pad to fit, the bike, thus they have to order the OEM parts which is costly(but then the OEM one is so much more thicker, thus last longer..)

but how about the rest of the vara125s, who have changed their brakes, is it

OEM ($40++) or the cheaper one ($20++)???
