niti how much is the hand guard? Which one? At kaki bukit or Joo Chiat one?? I will be free after 12... will meet you then...

the handguard itself is $45 a pair but u need to get a bracket for the guard, which cost another $45. so altogether $90. there some designs to choose from and the guards come in many colours. if u feel rich, then maybe can get another design which cost $90 for a pair. but dat one dunno need to fix braket or not. but remember, after u put the handguard like mine, confirm u handlebar cannot make a full turn.

haeikal, u want to put the guard also is it?

Yes, vara 1000 comes with the handguard.

Regarding the lock or full turn thingy, I think it's becoz of the design, size and shape...

My previous scrambler (XLR 200) comes with handguard as well. The design is very similar to the ones on my present bike. Perhaps you can give it a try... See if it fits better.

One more thing...Niti, the handguard you fixed is the hard type one, with a piece of metal across your knuckle. Like a combination of bush guard and hand guard. The original ones vara1000 and XLR 200 have is just handguard only and are quite flexible.

Wah Lucifer ong time no see ...

Well, Niti has installed the hand guard, but thing is he can't do a full turn and also can't lock the bike now?? I think it got something to do with the adjustment of the handle side right....

For me, I would like to install the similar hand guard like AT lah... very nice... only thing is they are white... so have to use spray to make it black

Do you think the guard looks nice on our vara?

Hi,

Are u still waiting for the tank bra? I have just got myself an XL1000V and thinking of getting one too. Looks like have to order first den wait den...

BTW, do come down to our Kruzer Fest.. at least this vara would be there..and they will be lotsa food.. :slurp:

Cheers

Ja, still waiting for the tank bra - think should be able to pick it up by this weekend or next. Have to call them and check on the status this week. Thinking about getting the headlight protector and changing the plasting strip on the windshield also at the same time. The headlight protector is about $45 and the plastic strip should only be a few dollars.

Will probably go to the Kruizer fest, just checking if there are more Varas going as it may be nice to roll in together (also cos I am not too sure of the way to get there...).

If some of u guys are going in maybe we could set a time to meet at the Esso across 2nd link and head there together?

b good!

I'm not too sure if it's the handle bar as I never ride vara 125 before...:cheeky: But you can change the handle bar's angle to see if an accomodation can be met.

The handguard of vara 1000, AT and XLR200 are all similar in design and they are quite flexible. You can ask a friend who rides a XR to take down his and try it on for fit.

Whether it looks nice or not is up to individual... But personally, I think its good to have one, not becoz of look, but becoz of practicality.

Besides, scram type bikes looks incomplete without a pair of handguards...:cheeky:

Actually, whenever I log on, I will always see this thread. However, due to my busy schedule, I tend to log on before I sleep, which means that quite late liao...By that time, somebody would have reply to queries liao so I just keep quiet loh.

But of course, if you have queries about my bike, I will appear to try and answer your queries one mah.

Hi Vara Bros

I have asked about the crashbar at Biketech, they do have for Vara125 and it cost $200+ and as fot the handguard u can try to buy directly from Chong Aik at their Head office, cheaper. I bought mine at $60 for both but have to install myself.

Cool, sounds all good. So in other words finding the way should be no problem as long as I come in by 2nd link right? I have signed up already, seems like more than 60 bikes signed up now, should be fun.

As for the headlight protector, do you find that there is problems cleaning the headlight after installation? Or no need? It seems it sticks on with 3M double-sided tape...
