i am a new bird.. just got my 2B license a couple of days ago.. i wanted to buy a vara125.. hopefully second hand.. and seeks for your advise where i can go and what may be the price i am looking at..

 

i scanned thru the newspaper for the last few days but no owners are selling..

 

having been dreaming of owning a vara for very long..

 

really hope you can advise me..

Someone in this forum just sold a vara for $7000 with 30,000km on it fw plate.

a new one would cost $10.3k OTR w insurance age 22 that was about 4 months ago.

 

If u buy from someone from the forum u probably would get a better deal then u would if u get it from a shop.

i definitely believe i will have lots of fun with you guys.. went thru a few previous pages of your forum and can't wait to join in.. although i can't figure out most of the lingos and technical terms.. but i guess i'll learn as i go along..

 

just one quick question.. is it true that vara125 really lacks in power due to the smaller cc and heavier weight??

There's enough power for a learner bike. One of the major piority i looked for in a leaner bike is its safety.

 

1. the bike is big u will get noticed by other road users.

2. it has twin headlights so you will more visible during night time.

3. It is stable even at speeds 90-110

4. it has a decent braking system.

5. cos of its size and looks you are unlikely to get bullied by other road users.

 

remember u just got ur license, your biggest goal for the first year is to familirise yourself with the road conditions of singapore roads and to do it safely. The varadero 125 is a safe bike with enough power for all major traffic situations.

 

how much power do u want? i got booked for speeding at a 90km/h expressway. There is enough useable power for sg riding conditions.

Yo bro try get this spark plugs NGK CR8EH9 it should last u for 10,000km this is the spark plugs recommended in the manual it only cost 5-7bucks.

 

if it doesnt. i think u need to get ur carb adjusted. Cos eventhough you clean ur carb and change ur air filter and no tuning is done to adjust ur air fuel/mixture on ur carb you might foul ur spark plugs.

also when was the last time u change your oil and oil filters. Try doin all this before doing anything major on your bike. This problem ur facing could be a small one do this first and if the problem still persist try getting a second opinion from another bike shop

thanks for the advise simone.. i am glad to know that vara125 can ride a pillon up genting highlands.. i was getting a lot of negative feedback from non vara riders who tries to sway my focus.. but luckily.. da force is strong..

 

i will be checking out as many shops as possible and really hope to meet up with all of you guys once i secure my dream bike..
