my name is mark and i just got my licence a few months back and got my xl125v from mah in october.. the bike was a shocker for me cuz i'm not a small fella and i've always had a thing for scramblers so the vara was a good cross between comfort(for my fat arse) and practical reasons..

 

i never knew about this forum or a vara club till well.. basically i'm looking for someone to buy my bike now.. reason being that my ma is uber worried about my safety and all of that.. i'm of course unwilling to sell cuz of the money factor and even less willing after seeing all the awesome mods you guys have made to your bikes and the great pics of your trips..

 

anyways.. i'm promised my dad that i would look into what kind of price i could get for the bike so was wondering if you guys could help me spread the word?

 

my bike was purchased on the 4th of october 05 from mah motors and all in all costs $13400.. i've paid off 3 months of $251 since then.. mileage is 2k.. last servicing was last week and i use motul 300v.. only extras are ngk iridium spark plugs.. like i said i'm not willing but just looking and considering the options..

 

till then.. i was wondering where i could get the following and how much they cost

 

1. k&n fliter

2. boxes.. hepco?

3. horns

4. lightbulbs(nice bright ones)

5. servicing?

 

all your help is very much appreciated..

Welcome to the club bro,

We have a lot of advisors on vara 125 all around.

Most of us here have been riding this baby for about 1-3 years. Regarding the maintanence wise and servicing, you can ask around also.

 

1. K&N Filter

Most of us still prefer use the stock filter rather than the KNN filter. Although it might be costly. There's a reason why the spanish made it stock. Anyway you just need to change like every 20,000km or like every 2 years. Unless you ride to Hatyai alone most of the time like klutch then u'll need to stand by a lot of brand new filters.

 

2. Hepco Boxes

4 of us are getting the 30litre junior panniers. Will get the items in one month's time. Basically you can get it from 2 shops. Biketech21 or Mtechnik.

If you thinking of getting H&B topbox, will cost you around $450 - $600 with the rack depending on the different models also. A set of 30litre junior panniers together with the rack cost around $800++.

So if you want full set of hepco box, be prepared to fork out around $1.5k.

 

3. Horns

You can get FIAAM, Hella or Magnum. Got other models in the market also. Mostly around $15 - $30. Installation wise, our 'Project Department' can help you fix it.

 

4. Lightbulbs

Not much of an option here. For bright ones get the Phoenix M5 halogen bulb. That's around $5-$8 per piece. You want some add on can get Hello foglamps like what most of us are using.

 

5. Servicing?

It depends on your preference actually, but we can recommend you some shops which can do our bike.

 

We'll be meeting up soon some time within this couple of weeks. Will get you informed of that. Can get me at this number (Hus : 98364335).

...a delicate situation you got there bro. was in the same boat many years back when just gotten my first ride too, but managed to keep the bike though…. only after some convincing and compromise. If you haven’t, first step probably is to go for a win-win situation.

 

bottom line; as you've mentioned, safety.. it’ll be always an issue .… but with a consistent effort (plus little prayers too) on your part, this might over time helped allay initial fears (..like managing risk factors on and off the road). who knows…one day you got to keep it after all.

 

lastly, if you think this ride is worth the hassle and it suits your personality…. go for it. juz my 2 cents

Hey guys,

 

the worst possible thing just happened to me today.

 

I lost my phone! Actually, it got stolen.

 

I went to Century Square Arcade with a friend to play a game, and I had my phone with me till I sat down at the game. At that moment, there were 3 malay kids standing behind me when I started the game. These kids were moving very suspiciously, like fowards and backwards. Getting uncomfortably close to me.

 

Just a few moments before I completed my game, those kids went off in a hurry. And it was a minute or so after, that I realised that my phone was missing!

 

I made a quick search of the vicinity, but there was nothing. Asked the counter lady if anyone returned a lost phone, but nothing. Made a call to my phone, and was happy to hear it ring! However, the ringing stopped and I couldn't get through after that. =(

 

I tried to get the information counter to do an announcement for me that I would offer a reward for anyone who returns me my phone but they were unwilling to cooperate.

 

So I went straight to M1 to get my line suspended, and then to the police station to make a report of my phone being stolen. The police now have my phone's IMEI number and are conducting a trace on it.

 

However, if any of you guys can, please help spread the word around that I'm willing to drop the case if the people involved would return me my phone? It has sentimental value as it was an anniversary present from my fiancee and it also has alot of important information inside.

 

Phone model is a HP iPAQ 6515, silver in colour, PDA phone. Standard phone set, no accessories.
