Is the arrow distributor the one that recently posted his ads in the forum???

If so, Maybe u can try to get a direct quote from arrow itself and see how, since the order is a MO.

Hi all,

Background: Just had my bike serviced at Combine Motors. Change the clutch cable, handle grip, installed hazard lite, added a booster, changed engine oil, change all brake pads, change to a new chain and oil filter, spark plug , changed the fork shield and some other minor stuffs which I cant really remember.

2..Did some riding around and noticed something. The noise level has decreased slightlly. However several issues i need to check with you guys.

a) Before servicing, once I start the bike by pressing the electric start button, the bike is able to start w/o trottling (Byeblock > Correct me if i'm wrong). However, once after the service, I have to trottle slightly and press the electric start before the bike can start. Is that a norm?

b) Also, sometimes when the bike is idling ,either at junction waiting for traffic lite to turn green or just started the bike (be it in neutral gear or in first gear with clutch depressed fully) the engine will die off on its own after sometime (Petrol is fuly topped up. Any idea whats the prob?.

c) Could it be because of the hazard lite that was installed had maybe somehow drain the battery (But hazard lite wasnt switched on)?

d) Anyone experienced difficulty in trying to hit 100KM from 80KM (with no pillion the bike)? So far mine after the service it seems like I have difficulty hitting 100km. However I have seen byteblock hitting 100km while he tongpang me (and I am not light ). Bike seems to be calling for help once reaching at 80KM (So heartpain)

e) How much does a new pair of clutch and brake lever cost? (just price range will do)

ABATTORY & DaNiYaL > Tks for the welcome. No prob on the blanja . haha.

Byteblock > bro, experienced any of those that i mentioned?

I think it's a norm. Happen to me also. What i think it takes some time for the Engine Oil to settle down after you change. After some time, it will be ok. Another thing maybe you can increase the idling timing.

Same thing as (a). Need to adjust idling timing.

c) Could it be because of the hazard lite that was installed had maybe somehow drain the battery (But hazard lite wasnt switched on)?

(a) and (b) has nothing to do with battery. Hazard light will not affect the battery unless you on it for 1 hour continuosly at stationary position.

d) Anyone experienced difficulty in trying to hit 100KM from 80KM (with no pillion the bike)? So far mine after the service it seems like I have difficulty hitting 100km. Did you change the sprocket? Also check your brake disc and make sure it is not eating your disc plate. Happen to one of our guys during the Hatyai trip and his bike had difficulty hitting 100kph.

e) How much does a new pair of clutch and brake lever cost? (just price range will do)

I have no idea. Never change before.

…...added a booster, change all brake pads, change... spark plug .

could be any of them above. there’ll be ‘after effefcts’ and most are temporary ‘hiccups’. Its good to observe after each vist at the moto diam.

Engine dying off while idling.

- its a classic example. A symptom after changing to a non OE spark plugs. before moving off, watch that rpm panel. recommended rev @ 1.5k, anything below (say 1.2~1.3K) will likely cause the above. remedy? a slow notch up with the idling timing.

difficulty in trying to get speed

- again watch these panels, speedometer and odometer. try making comparison with both. will be ‘healthy’ if both indication almost tally (.i.e. speed 80km/h rpm 7.5~8k range). IMO...be prepared to change spark plugs or remove that booster, if you need to.

Battery issue/ Cant electric start.

- for some reason, if cant electric start pause a while. don’t panic. always had this problem too after changing spark plug. Once engine start, again check the rpm.

- cold morning after heavy rain one possibility too. electrons got ‘ frozen’ lah... Remedy? switch ‘ON’ a circuit first..say ‘hazard light’ just to create a flow.

... btw,you can try FJT @ Rowell Rd for Honda genuine spares.

Keanan>>Bro increased your idling timing and u should changed to a new spark plugs..Chances are that your spark plugs maybe faulty.Try this solution first may save u some money.

i encountered this problem before: eletric start wif throttle and engine dies off while @ neutral or clutch...... when i 1st did my servicing and used fully sync oil. after that, i switched to semi-sync oil and dun have that problem liao..... dunno whether is tt the real cause anot.... clutch cable changed once @ ah wah, abt $15-20, cant really remember. :cheeky:

what goes around, comes around......

Better check your plugs... if it appears to be wet, that mean your EO overtopped. Low idling will cause engine dies off... High will makan your petrol shortly... Maybe you just need a fine tuning on your bike will be fine... dun panic... the bike will response differently to different owner... It got life too man... just relaz.. take your time to understand your bike better and sayang your bike... slowly it will response to your need..

Whats Up DaWgZ!!

Keanan>>> Bro...dun worry...juz bear in mind...the bike is underpower by nature...it is good to warm up your engine every morning before you ride for at least 10 mins...once started...rev it up and maintain at 5 rpm...at this stage...your battery will be charge...and engine oil will be woken up to lubricate those gears...or...it could be your air filter or sprak plug....Bike die off while waiting at traffic light...thats common...but not so often...if it is, then your tuning of air and petrol is disturbed...watever it is...dun open your carburetor and service it...unless it is very bad...so far...change the spark plug will do the trick....difficult to hit 100km/h...at what rpm do you change your gear....i suggest the next time...you try to change gear at 7-9 rpm...you can see the difference......and yes...juz like Varastormer said...take your time and understand the bike....trust me...it werks......now my mouse is giving me problems...it has its own mind....how to solve it...tried the trouble shooting guide but it aint werking...

HI all, esp to DaNiYal,Varastormer,Pingster,Beb, Aikon, Tks for all the replies and info. Really appreciate it. :thumb:

Today, started the bike on two occasions today. Both times, bike is able to start w/o the need to turn the trottle. Prob may be temp like you guys said.

Anyway to be on the safe side, I also increased the idling speed to around 1.5 and waited for about 30 mins. Bike did not die off. Think its is because of the need for the bike to get used to the service . Hehehe..... Will check further e.g engine oil (Currently using full syn), spark plug, etc etc..

Anyway didnt ride the bike today so cant really check on the speed of 100km. But will try what DaNiYal advised. Maybe will change.

Anyway , hope didnt disturb you guys too much. Tks again for all your help.

Al-Simmons > Yupz, Did change the sproket also. Does it affect the speed? Me abit goondu on this type of stuffs.

Keanan >>> Changing of sprockets will affect your pick up and top speed. Out stock sprockets teeths is front - 14 and rear - 44. If you reduce the teeth for the front sprockets and maintaining the rear, you will have better pick up. Reducing the teeth for the rear sprockets will increase your top speed.

How to check?

At 5th gear, your bike should be running at 9000rpm at 90kph. That is if your sprockets are stock condition (44/14). If you do your maths, 44 / 14 = 3.142.

So if you change ur rear lower to 14 say 12. Then 44 / 12 = 3.667. You'll get better pick up. So if your sprocket ratio is higher than 3.142, you will have better pick up. Meaning at 5th gear, your bike would be running at higher than 9000rpm at 90kph. If you change both your rear and front sprocket. Roughly calculate your sprocket ratio.

If your bike is running at lesser than 9000rm at 90kph, then the sprocket ratio should be less than 3.142. But one thing to take note, your bike will take some time reaching that 90kph mark.

(Actually the calculation part is my own theory, due to observations and experience. I not sure whether correct or not )

Another thing, you will find some problem to get 44 for the rear. Still dunno which shop has it.

About Zeus flip-up helmet. I've been using it for about 1 year plus. Quite comfortable for touring after wearing for the first few times. Once the screws get loose, u'll start hearing some noises. You'll need to get used to it, especially while checking of blindspots. Quite heavy compared to Arai helmets.
