Heya~ I'm new here, been reading about your trip to frasier. Seems waaay Cool..

 

Anyway, I'm still having my Bike lessons, and frankly, I haven't even applied for my PDL yet, so maybe another month or so before TP @ SSDC.

 

Been looking around for bikes for a while, and the Vara 125 came to mind..

 

Since you guys are 'seasoned' riders of this mean machine, wondering if you could give your honest opinions on the bike, esp when it comes to:

 

1) maintenance (common problems)

2) value (price is about 5k for 2nd hand right? ) New or 2nd hand better, for that matter...

3) comparison with Phantom TA200 (also a 4-stroke, but 200 CC with 11+ bhp)

4) do you think it's a good choice of 1st bike for a P-plate like me?

5) Insurance

 

thinking of keeping it for 3 years, while i finish up my 2A as well, then upgrade to possibly a bigger bike.. if not then i don't see why I can't ;grow' old with the bike.

 

just looking at it, i'm falling in love with the bike already. Appreciate your honest opinions.

1) maintenance (common problems)

i usually spend about $80 every 5000km for servicing..

so far no problems with the bike at all.. only thing was the rear brake braking even when not stepping on the lever when the bike was new.. sorted itself out after 3000km..

the bike is a bit expensive but maintainence is like easy..

2) value (price is about 5k for 2nd hand right? ) New or 2nd hand better, for that matter...

the bike is so reliable that i personally think that even 2nd hand it is worth it..

3) comparison with Phantom TA200 (also a 4-stroke, but 200 CC with 11+ bhp)

don't know much about this bike..

yes..

5) Insurance

for 125cc bike would be 'low' more importantly is that you will be a p-plater and also age is a main factor

i haven't been to the eagle ranch before but i'm going just to take Al-Simmons on in a go-kart! he just mad that he lost the last time round..

 

animal institute is this great kansas-lookalike place.. slight off-road, plenty of horses and cows and a solid lake also.. come if u can?

What i meant, before i add the power abuser, even when i go 50km/h i need to change to 5th gear. I cant maintain at 3rd gear as the bike will roar. Maybe its my bike problem.

As for alike S4, the smoothness is alike and not the speed. As I complain before, my bike will roar like crazy and now no more.

 

Those want to add power abuser, it depends on the bike performance. If the bike got jerkiness, its best to add the gadget. Like me.

Oh ^^ That makes it clearer now ~ So it improves the roaring sound of the engine ah ? Hmm, I guess thats why one of the bros that installed this abuser, his bike engine sounds milder ~

 

Vara 125 is by right a high rev bike ~ If your bike roars that much ~ have u check your spockets? I know for Spockets combination ~ Al-simmons the guru ~ correct me if I am wrong hus ~ haha
