2) whats the best size to get?

depends bro...

change the chain.. x or o ring... sprocket if need to change then change, if no need then ok la.

i prefer 14/41 set up... less vibration and less stress on the engine.. but now i using stock set up. 14/44. cos cannot find good 41T sprocket.

individual pref really.

price depends on where u buy and whcih shop fix for u. bike shop will normally charge more. i prefer to buy from FJT and go small mah at dunlop st to fix.

hey any one interested in the LeMarko Ride to Endau Rompin on the 27th and 28th of june ? lest weekend of june. 2day one night camping session...

come on guys... for now looks like only Demon and myslef gonna represent the OutRiders again...

would realli appreciate it if more Vara guys join the ride... atleast ppl will stop saying we only spend time and $$$ at bike shop ...den meet for top up session...

frankly..even that is dying off...

we may have to disban this riding group soon...:faint:

If the bike you got is the same as the one we spoke about, then yours is definitely a better bike.

The XRE300 has scrawny forks, air-cool, even the swing arm is old school. I am sure it is also mildly tuned, nothing like the good old wild rugged indestructible XR250. Overall it is just a dressed up bike but still a low tech machine of yesteryear.

Knowing the premium pricing of Honda machines, it wouldn't surprise me if the XRE300 costs about the same as your new bike. Maybe Boon Siew may not even bring it in at all.

Bro Nash, dun say like that lah...

Ppl who buy Vara 125 generally got $$ and the bike IS 'pimp'able... so definitely ppl will spend time and $$ at bike shop what... I was also like that... I'm sure alot of us like dat... rite?

Wrt riding trips, I'm sure they will join in if they can.

Seems like the pioneer batch of outriders were serving NS (if i got the story rite) when they started the group. Maybe they had more time on their hands then... that's why their spirit of adventure burning strong then. Coupled with an able bike, definitely many2 trips what...

With the exception of Huairen and Bay whom I know are frequently going places, i'm sure the rest of vara 125 also will go for trips when they can afford the time.

Like Demon said, the top-ups are cyclical. This is true for me too. I cant join in now till maybe late July cos closing financial year etc and I'm damn busy. And whatever ride you have, work and family must come first. If not no $$. No $$, in Singapore, how to survive?

Aniway, no need to disban anything lah bro, chill man. If ppl can weekly top-up, join in lah, the more the merrier. If now cannot due to busy or what, nevermind, next time when you are free-er, still can join. If top-up cancelled indefinitely due to low response, next time can always re-start again.

post less doesnt mean ride more. Post more also can ride more. Its the interest we all have in this special bike and the friendship forged along the way which keeps us on the same page... or thread.... whatever.

Peace!!

Actually, the minority of the pioneer batch consisted of those serving NS. The majority were working. We applied for leave or worked around our work schedules to go riding. One thing for sure, we yearned for the open road. Nothing was impossible for our Vara125s (even riding up to Genting and blowing a sparkplug..heh) The motto then was 'if a kup chia could do it, so could we'...heh heh. We just wanted to tour on our bikes.

Another point was about the amount of money we lavished on our bikes from the AT handlebars( Me), Acerbis handle guard(Niti started this with his one and only orange theme bike) Al-simmons did the full wrap around ones, tank bras, 1st MO of crash bars from biketech which had some hiccups, Windshields, the mass fabricating of the undercowl from Visual's original(which he cracked later on) at First Motor, testing of different head light bulbs, Scottoiler(that was me only at that time), Modified air filter(Daniyal's bike heh heh), Mainstand MO(Simone), Installing Stebel horns, Creating varadero stickers(Dakar) across the Causeway for damaged fairings or a for a unique look, Experimenting with different tyres from Bridgestone OEMs, Dunlops road ones to Metzler Tourance ones, trying to rectify the faulty speedometer and so many more. We spent many a time talking about places to service the bikes as not many mechanics were familiar with the bike. We had quite a heated debate on this one. The current Outrider logo with the flames is a slightly modified version of Abbatory.

Well riding is not just about going far. It is the friendship that comes along with it and the interest that we share of riding. I can't even imagine to tell you the countless times we met up to just TCSS. I'm still glad to see the Outrider spirit going strong.

I met few new Vara riders last week. Almost all, including me, just bought our Vara few months back. I think it will be nice to list down our names and introduce us to this thread. One day, we can arrange for a night's out with the rest of the outriders guys:

As what Nineh told me, we are the new batch of the Vara Riders: Cheers!

Actually i wish to follow but my tyres i just changed to Bridgestone Battlax for both front and back....road tyres. Btw it'll be good if u can plan a newbie ride coz i have with me another vara rider not active in forum and an AT rider. All 3 of us are new with our bikes and only ventured out to Johor. This newbie trip u organising, given the right time and financial condition.....im sure we 3 wun hesitate. Oh btw Nineh....we 3 go for topups on Sunday morning.
