Hi all again,

Another coouple of questions before making up my mind to become a Vara rider.

Read that petrol consumption is about 22km / ltr. Is this accurate?

If so, this is quite the same as 2A or even some class 2 bikes.

Next, question. Where is a good place to fix up a GIVI coloured box? model ?

I intend to buy a blue Vara @ GHC......real soon. (influenced by you all).

1993-1995 Honda NS400R

2005-2007 Honda Varadero 125

2007-2012 Honda Africa Twin 750

2013-2018 Honda CB400 Spec III

now BMW F700gs

Hi daystar,

450km for Vara125 Fuel tank of 17.5 litres = 25.7 km/litre.

I also read that a BMW F650 GS can clock 30 km/l !!! :giddy:

http://www.bmw-motorrad.com/com/en/index.html

Thanks for info.

Chow,

i mentioned more than 450km, aniwae, it's okay.....i do not monitoring the mileage that precisely. maybe there are other bros here who can shed more light on this. Also i dont empty my tank before refill.

Take this calculation, I rode 260km, then top 8 litres of fuel, by then you look into the tank like half tank left but you still can go far faarr faaarrrrrr. This is also my habit so as to keep the tank from rusting. (bike 3 years already, tank inside still sui sui)

For sure, you will enjoy this bike, :thumb: many can swear along with me.....sompa sompa sompa.....hahahahahahaha.

Cheers.

Hey Chow...the consumption is still not that high. For most Vara125 riders (99% of us, the 1% you know who you are...heh), we get abt 28-30km/litre. My most recent top up was 419.5km - 14.204 litres which works out to 29.53km/l.

actually it all depends on how u travel....it u go about 90-100 most of the time...

then should be able to go within that range...

maybe my bike quite virgin considering the previous owner had not used it for almost a year....

tips & trick for varadero:

1. Stalling at low speed.

This seems a problem mostly with '99 - '02 models but there is the odd report for '03 models.

Simple fix is to raise the tick-over speed by 100rpm which seems to cure it.

2. Clunky gear change, especially 1st and 2nd.

Tip is to pre-load the gear lever prior to making the change which makes it a much smoother and quieter change.

3. Poor handling after fitting engine/tank protector bars.

Most of these bars fit onto the front engine mounting bolts. It's very, very important to ensure that the bolts are torqued up to the correct setting. If not tight enough it can cause the bike to handle badly.

:faint:

btw juz wanna share some pics here

History of Honda VARADERO.....:weep:

Much underated in the UK, but growing in popularity all the time, and a firm favourite in Europe, Honda introduced the Varadero to the public at the 1998 Munich motorcycle show.

The first Varadero models appeared on the roads in 1999 and apart from colour changes the bikes remained much the same until 2001 when the Honda H.I.S.S. anti-theft system was installed. Powered by a re-tuned version of the 996cc V-twin Firestorm sports engine the Varadero has proven to be powerful and reliable, and of course comes with the renowned Honda build quality.

In 2001 production of the Varadero was switched to the Spanish Honda-Montessa factory outside of Barcelona where the model continues to be built.

For 2003 the Varadero received some major changes. These included the move to fuel injection and the addition of a 6 speed gearbox and a new dashboard. These changes benefited the model with better torque and fuel consumption.

The 2004 Varadero is available with optional ABS and extra adjustment to the suspension plus some cosmetic and dashboard changes, but otherwise remained unchanged.

For 2005 the colours are Silver, Blue and Black with the tanks painted to match, a much better scheme

hi guys, i've been riding sp for a while now and im planning on a bike change next year.

i saw the vara 125 on visual's links and i think it look kinda cool. looks like a scrambler with fairing and road tires. the 4 stroke specs will lighten my costs too should i plan to purchase this particular bike. i would like to enquire on the market price of a 1st hand vara and the price of a 2nd hand vara (fx-fy plate). also, what is the top speed of this machine and where can i get to test it for distances longer than from shop entrance to nearest junction? pls advice, thks in advance

the difference btw SP and varadero mostly the safety aspect...

that is y i switch over anyway..

the tires are wider, the brakes are better and the bike is heavier..

sp feels like riding a bicycle once you have riden a varadero..

and thats what makes a sp fun and dangerous in some ways..

small, thin, light and a extra valve for the extra power when you need it.

you dont mind cruising around 100 with average pick up...

less visiting times to the petrol station and less backaches esp on

long distance then this is the bike you should be owning and at

class 2B..

Anyway i have decided to sell my boxes once again....

dont need such a big box...

anyone vara riders interested pls check out the link below

at boonsiew its about 10-11k++

unlike KKR (where ppl let go a fx fy that quickly) ususally ppl keep their varas for a yr - 2 before selling to upgrade.. i realy doubt u can find a fx and fy vara125 2nd hand.. but fu and fv is possible (going for about 6++k)

> also, what is the top speed of this machine

this one was just discussed few post before.. (max sustainable... 115km, max top 120km.. but really some vara can hit 130...)

> and where can i get to test it for distances longer

> than from shop entrance to nearest junction?

frankly.. when i got the bike.. i was only allowed to sit on it.. thats it.. cant even start it or hear the engine.. much less test ride it..

longer distance.. dont think shops allow that.. for us... to let u try.. i dont mind.. but its againts the law.. and well not worth the risk...

;)

yeah i get compressed crotch whenever i have to brake hard from the peaking fuel tank but sp is fun for short distance dashes. the price of a new vara costs nearly as much as a super 4 spec 2 omg :faint:

true abt the vara125 price almost on par with super4 spec 11k & 12k respectvely, but lets look at it this way.....hehehe!

super4 is ya babe from japan with kimono etc ah....hehehe! but varadero 125 is ya young latina JLO kinda sex bomb u cant resist den the varadero 1000 carb or fuel injection is ya soul mate, waiting, wanting, yearning 4u to pass ya class2 :shy:

btw vara125 may not win a drag race with sp but if ya really a dare devil.....u can beat him a sharp corners cuz sp will shake if aint got a modified damper, unlike vara125 got a black balancer as a standard.....no offence to anyone but got one irritating dude staying nearby me, tink he is riding a hayabusa....yeah a p plate.....hehehe! cheers mates......! 4get to mention dun corner if tires aint road sport one eh?:goodluck:
