just got mine. if based on 0 residual value, mine depreciate at 1.2k per year. it's an early 07 model with about 5 more years to go. mileage about 49k. outlook about 8.5. seems well maintain except I missed out on the fork seals leaking when viewing the bike. then again, it's a 5 year old bike so I think its in good condition for the age.

My forkseal gave way at its 5.5 yr mark so no worries :)

Fatt, roughly where to? Can give teasers so those interested can do some planning?

I want to see the world and i'm pretty sure the world wants to show a little something to me.

Bay's old bike?

Could be - I know it was owned before me by someone that has pedigree on this forum.

The bike is re-listed by the way. I marked it as 'Sold' because I had what seemed like a genuine offer, right up until I was stood outside Sin Ming LTA with him, that is

Sat quietly on my driveway, waiting for new owner!

and whats the latest production for it now ? i really llove the look..

Didn't know Boon Siew still bringing in the bike. Read somewhere that there are still bike shops bringing in the current model though.

Top speed for mine is about 120km/h. Give and take the speedo is reading higher, the actual should only be about 110km/h.

FC is about stabilizing for me around 35km/l mark. Low of about 28km/l and high of 40km/l but normally about 35km/l. Octane 95 consistently.

One thing that I read is as long as there are current models of Vara, parts should be readily available for all years of Vara as the only differences between current model and 1st batch are;

- Cosmetic

- Fuel tank

- Air filter and associated air routings/box

- Fuel injected instead of Carb. Though need to tune twin carb perhaps every 25k km, carb are still cheaper in long run.

- Addition of cat to meet emissions standard - which means slightly detuned top speed.

Rest of the bike is more or less the same. Even the engine I heard (source: wiki varadero 125). Worst case is to source from Europe side (eg, ebay) which apparently, the bike is extremely popular.

Thus, one good reason why Vara keeps it value so well. Unless, personal preference to get brand new, I never believe in that as too much depreciation from onset, get a used one instead. Save the money and get it properly inspected and maintained. Transfer fee today only $11 for all passenger vehicles.

Hi Bro, dont really think they have parts for our varas....... they do bring in the bikes, but not really the parts. lots of parts have to be indent, then they will ship in. so original parts for varas are really dammed expensive....... the original meter alone for 2001 version will cost abt 1k++.... and best thing about it is that there is no ex-stocks for it. got to fly in... haizzzzz......
