Why don't you call LTA? They will be able to tell you what to do.

I heard when you scrap the machine, all that needs to be handed over are the engine and chassis. They contain the special serial numbers to register the vehicle.

 

The thinking is that, if you just give the bike to the shop or scrapyard wholesale, you're giving it away at a loss. That's why dekitting is quite a popular additional step. Just don't try to carry the frame and engine around public transport :D

Not sure how it works these days, but some years back when I tried to scrap only the frame and crankcase, 5 out of 6 scrap yards only accepts complete bikes.

 

It's really a joke that LTA says you only need to send in the frame and crankcase, but on the other hand, scrap yards are able to turn you away because of incomplete bike, and there is nothing LTA can do about it.

scrap yard has to abide whatever laws that lta says as far is scrap is concern...complain to lta..the scrap yard may loose its licence to scrap vehicle..
