Hi everyone,

I don't know where to post this, I guess this is the best place(?)

Because of the recent rain, my helmet was soaked through. It stinked at first, so I did one of the most stupid things anyone could ever do... I sprayed deodorant in my helmet... Now it stinks like one hell.

What I want to ask is... HOW DO I GET RID OF THE STINK? I really cannot tahan the stink.

Any help would be GREATLY appreciated :D

It's a full face helmet by the way.

remove liner if you can..wash it dry it under th sun or clothes dryer..or hair dryer..

it stinks because bateria is thriving in the liner..

after the drying...which will kill the bateria...no anti deodorant...

use dettol or lysol anti septic spray..

dettol in highly concentrated form? Sounds like I got some de-odorizing work to perform.

simple, had this problem mysrlf cause of rain, sweat under hot sun etc.

1. remove liners and place both helmet and liners inside big pail

2. add soap (i use laundry liquid soap) add 3/4 hot water (approx. 70C) 1/4 tap water

3. use a weight or lid to keep helmet SOAKED

4. Leave overnight

5. Sun the helmet

6. No smell.

P.S. To help the helmet always smelling nice. Get those flat cupboard deodorant packs (e.g. $1.50odd Glade @ NTUC). Slot it in the liners of your helmet and get a nice smelling helmet for a long long time.

Try it out! Tested and proven by me and dun worry about damaging the helmet. IT WON'T!!

not recommended, u'll feel like u're sniffing glue, at least for me.

besides if it get wet again the deodorant + stink=power stink, yucks.

Accident can happen anytime, anywhere.

However ask yourself, do you want to fall at 120km/h or 60km/h?

Heard can cause hair loss if you put the air freshener packs into helmet linings. Not sure how far is true. My friend told me when I was complaining about helmet smell

if you put glue, it'll smell like glue.. If you put lavender it'll smell like lavender. Guess Arthur you hair must stink if not you won't be sniffing glue from inside if your place deodorant in your helmet.

Anyways, to TS once you place the deodorant in your helm, dun allow the insides to face the rain huh..

Not true. Been using for two years and no change to my hair growth. Still gets thick pretty quickly. Maybe the hair loss is due to individual genes.

However the pros on using it is each time you take off your helmet, hug a gal, she's sure to smell your hair! and she'll take that deep breath and smile :D *do use a nice smelling deo pack like lavender*

up to individual, maybe u can stand, i cant.

anyway u advised TS not to get helm wet, may i ask ur sweat wont stink it? or perhaps u dont sweat, well it's up to individual again.

as i was replying i found something interesting

Inhalant drugs are often used by children, teenagers, incarcerated or institutionalized people, and impoverished people, because these solvents and gases are ingredients in hundreds of legally available, inexpensive products, such as deodorant sprays, hair spray, and aerosol air fresheners
