How long you guys stay at Marsiling/Woodlands? Just for fun! Please post from the longest to the most recent, all welcome. Maybe now you all understand to me, Woodlands, Marsiling all the same to me.....I kindda seen Woodlands grew, lol....

Yes, I miss Marsiling Dr, Blk 204. I stayed there for a long time, parents bought the house when it was still building and my mum would walk with me to check out the house every now and then. There was never this beautiful park between Blk 204 and Blk 205, used to be just a badminton court and a big field. Every evening there would be some Malays selling Satay. Good 'ole days. Too bad the house was getting small, else would had stayed there and not moved. Lots of my childhood frens stayed around Marsiling, but I guess with family of their own, they likely moved away.

 

I studied at SiLing Pri......"S stands for SiLing, circle and the flame, symbolising our dear school name...."

 

Ah Bug, 31 yrs huh.....we know each other? I stayed 3rd floor when residing in Blk 204. Studied Fuchun Sec.

i oso study siling pri leh.... hee.... ever think of shfting to woodlands too but parents feel tt kitchen too small for the new flats so continue to stay here... it's good though... i like here very much i stay 14th floor

Yup, those old designs HDB sure have more spacious kitchen, and it's very cooling with big windows.

Just moved here not long ago during my poly days. When I just moved here, I thought to myself.. "wah old folks home area". But the residents here are much more friendly compared to when I was in Ang Mo Kio. Definitely alot more bikers also, maybe because near JB, everyone goes in and pump cheap petrol.

 

While trying to adapt to the new neighbourhood, the traffic on BKE during peak hours is horrendous. Swarms and hordes of Malaysian bikers really hones my skill in road commuting.

 

Ah bug, think I saw you on Admiralty road one night. Your R1 is silver colour one right? Kopi leh!

Alamak, ah bug so fast blow plug ah. I going to change plug also, 20k liao.

 

Beware when riding near the intersection at Marsiling Drive / Admiralty Road. Tire power-slipped twice when trying to pull a wheelie and opening throttle too early after u-turning. Must be due to recent wet season with water condensation or accumulated diesel overtime by big malaysian lorries.

bro, teach me wheelie leh, been trying the power wheelie but just cant get it up. Guess its wrong technique..

 

I cannot teach lah... Share can, I not good at it. There is this guy, black 01 R1 I think, indian, very good. He wheelied right infront of my face and pulled it across the whole junction.

 

1st gear, wide open throttle, sit upright (don't prone). Sure up, that is if you don't halfway close throttle abit. But power wheelie dangerous, try 1st gear slip clutch.

 

1st gear, 30~40km/h, about 4k rpm, pull in clutch rev up to 10k (maybe 8 for yours) rpm and slip back the clutch. Should go up slowly like aeroplane take off. Kambing is the grandmaster, do ask him for more advice. I'm not sure if it works the same for your 04 R1, mine is 06.

 

Very detailed settings like tyre profile, compression and preload settings play a big difference. Even 04/05 and 06 R1 has a big difference, 06 R1 has longer swingarm which is more difficult to pop up. When I changed to higher profile tyres like Qualifiers also harder to pop. Practise somewhere safe, like track. If possible avoid wheelie-ing, it damages engine crank area in long run because oil flows backwards. Fork is easily damaged if you always land poorly also.

 

Lastly, cover your rear brakes just incase you flip over too much. Ride safe bro! Cheers and have fun! Remember to warm up your tyres first also, my rear always slip when I try to pop the very moment I start riding. Not enough grip plus fat rider! Oops...
