what is the main purpose of this thing? i can't seems to understand it. is it best to have it or without it? any explanations are appreciated, cheers

That's a fork brace. What it does is to add rigidity to the fork so that the fork will not flex thus improve stability.

 

Generally fork brace is useful when the fork is long, and subject to alot of high impact, such as during a jump.

 

For a 2B road bike, you are just adding weight, and wasting money.
