I went to the Johor Outlet Mall on a test run yesterday. Not much of a trip, but first time going anywhere farther than Clementi on the bike!

 

The windblast was a problem. I think I have a double bubble windscreen. The airflow falls right onto my chest, making it uncomfortable to drive much beyond 135 kph without a leather jacket. Need to find a better sport-touring screen. Anyone have any good suggestions?

 

My mileage is terrible - 140km took 10 litres, which seems pretty awful. Any thoughts on this?

 

Finally, heat was an issue.

 

Waiting on my Variobars; those will really help the ergodynamics. It's a long reach over the tank!

 

That all said - the power curve is amazing. Much more oomph at speed than my old Triumph, and that was an awfully powerful bike.

Bb is sport tourer bike. Not tourer.

You need to tuck your head after 150-160km.. Double bubble power bronze is the best. Unless you want to change to MRA double windshield.

The Triumph Sprint ST was a sport tourer as well, but it had super-comfortable ergos without substantively sacrificing performance. Handlebar risers, a higher windscreen and electricals to accommodate heated jacket and pant liners made it insanely great for long-distance winter rides. I used to drive 350 km from Boston to New York non-stop in both freezing cold (-20) and driving rain (at 2 degrees) in comfort and style :-) and at the same time spank it through the back roads and mountains of New England.

 

I guess I'm looking to recreate a similar feel - plenty of sport with comfortable cruising (winter capability not necessary!) by messing with the ergos with things like the footage lowerers, handlebar risers, comfortable seat, higher windscreen, hard luggage, on-dash USB chargers... I'm pretty confident I can pull it off - if it worked on the Triumph it should work on the BB - but it's an experiment.

 

Funny you mention the MRA screen. After researching online, I just decided that would be my best bet. Great minds think alike!! Haha!!

 

Need to figure out a better rain suit solution though. I hit heavy rain yesterday, and my Tourmaster 2-piece left me soaked and miserable. Need to find something that's light, dry, durable and breathes (I used to have the most awesome Dianese, but it would be too warm for SGP...). Not sure if such a thing exists, but I suspect it would rely on Goretex if it did...
